Sunday Roll Call

Morning all and happy day to the late comers. It is really good to see newbies come into the roll call and post their own questions. What a glorious day yesterday. We just need a little bit of warmer temps especially for the rest of the tomatoes to ripen. That is okay on the green toms as I already have printed info on how to ripen green ones when the season rolls to a close.

What are everyone's plans for today? I only got a couple of the high windows done yesterday so that is first on the agenda. I bought circular arched shades for the two highest windows to block out the high sun from the west. Then I need to get my butt out and pull crab and quack grass from the mulch on the south side of the house.

Lord,I wish I had your energy Chris.  Good Morning IL.  It sure is a pretty one. Nothing much to do here but wait for  Eddie to decide what he is going to do.  We heard from Madison Friday.  The tumor is too large to freeze off (that would have been an non invasive surgery).  To remove it,requires a lengthy open surgery-it is pretty much buried in scar tissue after 17 years.  Some of the kidney will come w/it-maybe all of it.  No guarantees as to kidney function.  No promise of another kidney any time soon.

If he does not have the growth removed,  the cancer will spread to his lungs and brain or the tumor will get large enough to cause kidney failure, which would bring on multilple organ failure-neither is an easy death for any one in either scenario.  I am a nervous wreck.  He won't talk to me.  He wants to talk to his siblings but they won't answer their *@#&!% phones.  He is tired of being sick and I can't blame him- and I really don't see him risking this surgery for a life of dialysis 3 times a week.  I better shop for some new knee pads-I thingk God and I will be talking a lot more often.  Huge hugs to all-Janet K

Janet, just because what I said I am going to do - it might not get done! I am already waivering with riding my bike over to Target and Big Lots. The window washing is real easy because I have a pole that extends 16' so I can stay on the ground and clean the windows and that is safer.

((((HUGS)))) to you my friend as to what you are going through with Eddie's health right now. That has to be very frustrating that he wants to talk to his siblings for advice and not to you. Yes God listens to our prayers, He just does not always answer them the way we want.

Hi Janet my dear friend.

Eddie has been through so much in his life and probably is so sick and tired of the constant medical issues. I can't blame him for feeling the way he does. My dad died of multiple organ failure. He was on peritoneal dialysis for almost 2 years and got an infection. He was hospitalized and it was down hill from there. He landed up on a ventilator. For a short time, he assisted breathing with the vent. Then after my sister and I came to visit him, he gave up and stopped breathing on his own. His heart rate kept declining in spite of the numerous medications the doctors gave him. We knew he gave up. The only thing keeping him alive was the ventilator. My dad was gone. I had to get my step mom to the point to take him off the vent. That was the hardest thing I did in my life. He died in less than an hour.

The doctors told us that it was not a painful death. My dad went into a deep sleep so he wasn't aware of what was happening.

You have a lot of strength and love to get you through whatever happens with Eddie.  That man has been through so many health issues, I doubt he is going to want the surgery. Of course, that is his decision.

I just want to let you know that I am thinking and praying for you both.

Please post and let us know how you and Eddie are doing.

Know that you have a lot of friends and support here.

Hugs and Love,
Lucy

Janet, my friend, I am so sorry you and Eddie are going through all of this.  He may not want to talk to you about things because he feels he's "protecting" you from all of it that way.  I cannot imagine what you are both going through, but please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers through this very difficult time.  Much love to you

Monica

Hugs

You are in such a difficult situation.  I feel for you.  When my dad was dying, he would not talk to any of his family including my mom about death.  He only talked to the staff at the hospital.  To me this was his way of coping and not getting all emotional.  Sometimes I think when we are faced with big problems, we try to shield our loved ones or reach out to our original family for comfort.  It must be a self protection mechanism that is ingrained in us.  We want to protect those we are closest to but we know our family of origin has endured all the ups and downs.  I think that is also why psychologist and psychiatrists make all the $$$ because they are unrelated 3rd parties.

Hang in there.  God will hear your prayers.  I am saying a few for both of you as well.

So sorry Janet, if you were not facing this you would have energy. Stress has you so zapped. I will help you with those prayers and maybe you won't need those knee pads.
Best Wishes

Hello everyone

I am relaxing this morning.  Today I will be visiting my dad again.  He had some bad episodes yesterday.  First because he wasn't taking his medicine his blood sugar was still out of wack.  when he was tested he was at 377.  Also he tried to get up and take a shower and it must have been too much for him to do and he went into acute respiratory distress (that's what the doctor called it) .  But when I left at 8 he was doing good.  Also they have recommended and we agree that he go to a rehab center after his hospital stay.

I also had another migraine yesterday.  My new medicine that the doctor gave me is not helping enough.  So I will call him Tuesday to let him know I want something else.

Yesterday I went for a nice hour long walk.  There is a park right next to the hospital and I decided to get away for a bit when he was having tests done.  It was such a beautiful day.  And the park has a 3 mile walking trail, I walked around it once.

Later today me, my sister and brother are going out to Olive Garden.  My sister wants to go there.  I didn't have the heart to tell her that I can't eat pasta.  Anyone know if there is anything there to eat that doesn't have pasta???

Well I better get going.  Have a great day.

Crystal, sorry to hear about your dad's episode yesterday. I also read what you put on FB. Go to OG's website and look at the menu before you go so you can make a wise choice or just stick with salad & soup.
