Anyone interested in a local support group?

Hi all - I live in the Yorkville area and am looking for 1 or more people who would like to get together every week or every two weeks to just have a buddy for support. I don't really know anyone in my area who's had lapband or any other weight loss surgery and Im feeling very alone in my journey. My kids are here, but Im divorced and it would be nice to have someone, or a group to have that support for motivation, help with diet and just to talk about the journey and the ups and downs of this journey.

Don't get discouraged.  You will get a lot of support right here on this forum if you choose to stick around and use it.  Join in on the daily roll calls and get to know the others in the group.  I think most of us have pretty busy lives and it's often hard to find the  time to meet up on a regular basis but this forum does allow everyone to keep in touch and share their victories, struggles etc.

Unfortunately, I do not live anywhere close to you or I might be up for it.

We DO have an informal support group in Rockford, but I am not sure how close that is to you.

Second best is as Christina says---join us here.  You will meet lots of us who share the same journey and no question is taboo.  That's what we are here for!

I actually get 90% of my support from this board.

Thanks Christina and Dawn, I appreciate the support. I know that this is a great site for support, but I would just love to get a group together for a more personal support system. Rockford is about 2 hours away from me, so a little too far.. hopefully I'll find a few people who are interested as well as continuing on with this site for support!

If I was closer I would, I think it would be great to have someone to share my ups and downs with on a personal bases...My friends and family haven't a clue how this all works and if they see me eat something they consider forbidden thats the law, their law anyway! I just live way to far!

HI-If you look on the Kane Center webite there are monthly support goups held in Elk Grove & Hoffman Estates.  There are support groups for both Lap Band and Gastric Bypass patients.

It may be worth the look!
