Hi!
Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! First, let me tell you that tastes will change after surgery so what you might like now, you may not like later. Also, everyone has individual preferences. What I did was go to some of the advertised sights on the main board and order sampler packets of protein. That way I could try different products and flavors. Some of them came in 1/2 serving sizes which was ideal for the newly post op. The one I liked best was the most expensive but since surgery, a lot of my protein that I get from the protein powder is consumed not in a weight loss shake but as homemade protein icecream. You can find a variety of ice cream recipes on the website www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com Shelly had WLS and loves to cook and has some of the yummiest recipes that you can find. The homemade ice cream is something I really love. For that, I go to WalMart and buy my protein powder.
Let us know how we can help you. Good luck!

WELLLLLL, it is not what is the best protein but what is the best for your individual taste buds. I would not stock up on anything but a few protein items pre op. Taste several and buy a little of each because your taste buds will change PO, guaranteed! My DH and I both like the EAS ready made AdvanEdge carb control We purchase ours at Sam's and it only comes in chocolate by the case from that store. You can purchase it in the 4 pak from Osco and sometimes at GNC. It does come in other flavors.

Welcome and congratulations on getting control of you life!
I have nothing to add to the protein powder/shake adivce given above. Your tastes may or may not change, but I would order all the samples I could get my hands on and try them out. I actually have done this a few times. I ordered mine from Vitalady.com as she has a wider variety. I then actually made a spreadsheet until I found my favorites, but again...much of this was post-op.
If you are talking about non powder/shake protein sources, go by what your doctor's protocol allows. Good sources that can be pureed are cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, and if in a pinch, baby food meats. I used the baby food and added a bit of salt and pepper, especially if I had to be out and about while still on pureed after surgery.
Good luck to you and please come back often and hang out with us! We LOVE making new friends!
