Local Meet and Greets???
Hello Illinois Forum!!! I have been on the regular lap band forum for about a year. I just found you!!!
My question is this.... are there any meet and greets further south than the Chicago area?? That is about 4 hours north of me. I would LOVE to attend one but can't seem to find one thats closer!
My surgery date was June 18th 2010. I am soo glad that I finally received the approval to have the surgery! OH has saved me and my sanity somedays! There's lots of good information here!! Not to mention good recipes and food ideas when I am in a meal rut!

I am so glad you found us! Welcome, welcome, welcome!..
The meet and greets are just casual get togethers about 4 times a year. They are held by whoever will host one. A large number of people are from the Chicago which is why so many are held "up north". However, we do have members from the Bloomington/Peoria area that do come. Sometimes we even get some from down in the St Louis area! One member even comes from Florida occasionally! I know it is a long way to travel. Perhaps those who are farther south could host a more localized meet and greet. I usually travel 2 hours to get to one, but it is well worth it.
Even if you cant make our meet and greets, please stop by the daily roll call and get to know our group. We are really here for each other and offer lots of support to each other in all aspects of our lives! We have become a fairly tight group but love to add to our numbers!
There are quite a few people here who have just had surgery. We have a mixture of lap banders, RNY'ers and a couple of DS'ers. No surgery wars here.
