August 14th Wedding. HELP
My son is getting married August 14th, and I have to have something to wear. How would you guys go about buying something, if you don't have a clue to what size your going to be in? Now. it's not a inside air conditioned church wedding. Of all things it's a middle of a cornfield wheat grass wedding. An it's the middle of August. Plus you have to remember.... That by August they are putting out their Fall line.
Will take all suggestions given!!

No fairy princess here. Just blathering advice from me.
First, congratulations!
Second, I'd say find yourself a kick-butt tailor. A good one is like a magician and can help you fix most things to be the right size.
Third, I'd try to find something classic with quality fabric now. Quality fabric will hold up better to tailoring. No cheapie, "look-what-TRENDY-thing-I-found-on-clearance-at-Lane Bryant/Avenue" dress. You're the mother of the groom who will be photographed all day (and photos last forever), you want to look classic and lovely.
I looked at your starting BMI--47.5. I was 55.5 and had a different surgery than you, so I'm not sure how relevant it will be, but I lost about 67 pounds in the first 3 months. I went from a size 30/32 to about a 22/24 in that time.
I recently had to buy some dresses for weddings and saw LOTS of lovely, classic and reasonably-priced items at Carson's and Bloomingdales in both misses and plus sizes. So, I'd take a spin through the nearest B-tier (at least) department store and try on dresses. If you'd find one you love, I'd say buy it in this (or the next size down as long as you can zip it NOW) and hit the tailor two weeks before the wedding for a final fitting.
You do not know WHERE the weight is going to come off, so it's hard to make any assumptions about your size a month from now.
Best of luck!
Nicolle
