Today I am just enjoyed the day with my family and later tonight I am going with a friend of mine to the WLS info meeting at my surgeons office as support.  I am sure they are going to make me speak about my WLS experience!  That's ok though.  I am happy to do it.  I printed off more recent photos to update my progress photo album.

Also going to call around to nail down a location for the support group I am forming down here in the Bloomington-Normal area!  Wish me luck- I think I will need it!

Raven 81.

I am not sure if you are aware of it or not, but St. Francis does a support group on the 2nd Monday of the month at St. Joes. Even though I had my laptop at Alexian Bros in EGV, it is open to everyone.

BTW, I am having a meet and greet on Aug. 14 at noon in Streator. I would be glad if you decide to come. PM me for details.

I wonder what I was thinking??

I did know that OSF had a support group meeting at St. Joseph's.  I have been only once and it was the worst support group experience I have ever had.  I tried to be involved in the discussion but everything I said they would yell and argue with me about.  I got the distinct impression that they were what I call "RNY Elitist".  I am a firm believer that everyone should do their own research and pick the surgery they (and their doctor) feel is best for them.  I don't push my DS down peoples throats so I didn't take kindly to people saying I picked the wrong surgery and then went on to tell me every myth about the DS as fact!  It was terrible.  That experience has a big impact on why I am starting my own support group in this area!

Thanks for thinking of it and passing on the info though!  I really appreciate that!  I would love to come to the meet and greet!  I will PM you for details.

Oh my Gosh!  You look terrific!  I so wish I had been willing to fight for a DS.  Now I seriously am thinking about a revision and wondering if it would help.  I  cannot believe you are only 7 months post op!    You have done well!  You should be very proud of yourself!

I am so sorry you did not get the support at Peoria.  I know that some people believe that theirs is the ONLY surgery to have and to me that is very narrow minded.  Good luck in starting your group.  We all need support.

I hear that all the time that people wish they would have known about/fought for a DS.  It makes me sad so I really try to spread the word about the DS so others can know it is an option.  Of course I encourage everyone to do their research and make the best decision for THEM and there is no one surgery fits all.

Thank you for your encouragement and compliments!  I am very proud of myself and so happy with my progress.  I think starting a support group will ultimately help me as well because I like giving back and I enjoy helping others.  I went back to school in January to study nutrition and become a nutritionist so I can give back even more.  It has really turned into a passion for me.

Check out the revision board and the DS board.  I have seen many, many people posting lately whom have had a revision to a DS and they are happy to share their information and experiences.  I hope you are able to find the info, support, and resources you are looking for to be able to reach your goals!  I know you can do it!

Good evening Illinois!  I guess it's never to late to say HI!

I had a pretty busy day, a little slower than normal.  Took older boys to their first day of rollerskating camp, they had fun but were sooooo hot.  The rink doesn't have any AC!! On purpose! Can you believe it?  When I came to pick up the boys they were beet red and dripping with sweat, but smiling! They had a great time and my oldest won one of the games they played and got a free soda.

Then we spent the afternoon lazing about and the kids played for 3 hours in our little inflatable pool.  I made tacos for dinner and think I ate a little too fast.  Had a little pain but it resolved quickly.  I'm still figuring out my eating schedule and I have a bad habit of getting distracted with other stuff and putting off eating.  Tomorrow I plan on riding the stationary bike at the Y before I pick up my youngest from Kiddie Kamp.

Hope everyone has a nice and cool evening!!

Carol
