Good morning Illinois! I am up a little earlier than I wanted to be but I need to drive Dave over to the golf course here in a few minutes. For me it will be shopping here at the resort then PU Dave when he is finished then we will hit the water park here on the property.

Most of my squash has come up but only two pea plants.  Pea plants were not to be up until next week so I still have hope for them and I think I have way too many planted in each container anyway but think if I am careful to watch them and feed them it will be almost like hydroponics sp?.  Tomato plants are also coming on pretty good but with too many of them as well so the same experiment.  One of my sweet pepper plants has two buds.  I have a chair to look at in Elk Grove and so I will take Cheryl to the train after she does a lab this morning.

What is everyone else up to?

Good Morning Christine: (And everyone else!)
I hope you guys have a terrific time at teh resort! :) The water park! Oh my, that would be a "life goal" of the new me someday! I like daredevil stuff like that (and love water!).  Use plenty of SUNSCREEN! You worked so hard for that new body, make sure you keep sun damage away! People burn like hamburgers on a grill a****erparks.

Randy- Your garden sounds terrific! We planted tomatoes (which have taken over EVERYTHING else) I kid you not. They are all over the place in the garden. We will NOT be hurting for tomatoes this year. Our wax beans didn't do so hot. (One little plant). Our Jalapeno pepper plant reluctantly spit out a couple peppers, and our asian eggplant and cucumber plant grew TONS of leaves and flowers and gave us....1 lousy eggplant and 1 lousy cuke.   In fact I gotta get my son in there to weed later tonight. We have been so rain starved here in West Belleville we are now in a level 1 draught. (All the rain has been skirting around to you poor folks that was getting the storms over and over).

I gotta run to the shelter today and get a photo of Angel, our new adoptee, then pick up a few last minute supplies at Target.

Have fun everyone.
Warmly,
Jackie

Jackie, it sounds like your tomato plants are indeterminate plants that will continue to vine unless you nip them in the correct places. Determinate plants are the bush type, produce fruit first then die out.  For me the first year that I planted tomatoes I loved seeing them grow and grow but realized the next year after some research of when and where to nip. You should try and stake them. I think it is a little too late to cage them. The produce that you are/are not producing is something that you could probably Google to find out why it has happened.

I pretty much do not use sunscreens. I more then likely will have a few places that will get pink but for the most part I am pretty dark already. I am low in Vit D so I try to make sure that my skin can produce the Vit D with the exposure to the sun. There was mention to this in my Vit D thread last week. Don't worry - I keep a good check on the condition of my skin and make sure it remains healthy.

Fun, you will pick up your dog soon. We would like to have a dog but have found that so many of our family and friends are allergic AND we like to pick up and go at a moments notice. We have not had any kids so we can do that.

Hello everyone

Yeah it's Friday!!!  I go shopping today for my long awaited TV and DVD player!!!  I'm very excited.

To celebrate the bonuses at work they had bagels for breakfast (which I can't eat, my band doesn't like them) and they are having pizza for lunch (which is another thing I can't eat).  Which is a good thing I guess, I just wish there was something I can eat.  I would like to celebrate with some nice lean protein...hahaha.

Well tomorrow I will be running several errands and getting a manicure and pedicure.  Then Sunday I will walk around our farmer's market.  So my weekend is planned.

Oh and I did get some good news at work.  I have mentioned before today is the last day of work for our 4 temps.  Well I found out I can hire one.  So I know exactly which one I want and I can't wait to tell her the good news.

Well enjoy your Friday!!!

Good morning Illinois Board!  Well I am now 4 days post op and hanging in there.  I felt horrible when I woke up this morning but am starting to feel a little better.  Drinking my water, I tried a protein shake but that is just not happening right now.  Had a SF popsicle which was heaven on a stick.  Maybe I should freeze some protein shakes into popsicles and that would help me get the protein in.

Last night I ate 3 oz of pureed tuna salad and I felt stuffed.  But it did go down easily so I was happy.  Today I'm going to try pureed black beans with salsa and cheese.  Todays agenda is rest, sip, and walk around the house.  And shower, I must shower.  The dogs won't even come near me.  My hubby and kids are leaving soon to go camping in WI for the weekend so I'll have the house to myself.  I plan on watching Breakfast At Tiffany's and then some movies on demand.  I will TRY to not start cleaning. TRY.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Try making your protein shake with water or soy milk.  Many of us become lactose intolerant after surgery.  I had the problem of the urge to hurl trying to drink protein shakes and did much better when I made my shakes with water rather than milk.

 Good evening everyone!

I am happy it is Friday!  I made it through my first week on the phone fielding calls on my new team. I only got stuck a few times and that is not too bad considering our crash course and no chance to parallel with someone else.

I decided to go grocery shopping on the way home from work as it is susposed to pour all weekend.  I found a great new toy!  I love slurpees but alas we have no 7-11 or any decent place around here that makes any.  I found a machine in WalMart that is a Ninja Master Prep that is a combination smoothee machine and food processor.  It is only $39.00 so I am now happily sipping happily away on my low cal, no sugar version of a slurpee.  It really worked great and mixed everything to a perfectly smooth but frozen texture.  Can we say margaritas

No special plans for the weekend.   Hope everyone has a good one!

It was with the blenders.  I made my slushie with ice cubes, crystal lite  and diet soda.   I have also done them with frozen fruit,  a couple tablespoons frozen lemonade, ice, and water.
