As of this past Monday I made it onto the losers bench!!  I'm still in the hospital (Northwestern) and today they allowed me to have my clear fluids tray for dinner.  It was so weird to eat 3 small jello cubes and feel so full.

Knock on wood I've had a great experience, minimal pain, no fevers, etc.  They say I can go home tomorrow and I can't wait.  I miss my kids, my dogs and MY OWN BED!!!!!!  And I so desperately want to check out my scale at home.  I know I shouldn't, and I should wait for my post op appt. next week but I'm bad that way.

I've got my stockpile of sugar free jello, pudding, cream soups and crystal lite waiting for me.  Along with some protein powders and RTD Atkin's shakes.  I'm ready to use this tool I have been granted!!

Congrats Carol. We enjoy having you on the losers bench. Don't rush things. At this point, your scale is NOT your friend.

By the way, I am having a meet and greet in Streator on Aug. 14th. We would love for you to come, and you will be able to show off that new body at the same time. Pm meet for phone and address. You kids and Hubby are invited too. The pool will be opened.

Hi Carol,

YAY!  Congrats.  I'm so happy your surgery went well.  Too bad I didn't read this yesterday, I would have come up and said hi.  I work in one of the ICU's at NMH.  It sounds like everything is progressing well.  The first few weeks are not easy, please use us for support and questions as much as you need to!

Dr. Hungness was my surgeon also, so if you have any questions about the program/process, what you should do when, etc, give me a holler!

Congrats Carol!  So glad to see that you are recovering well.
Lisa is right, the scale is NOT your friend right now.  Most people come home with a few EXTRA pounds because of all the fluid they pump into you.

Tell someone that you love them!

 Congratulations Carol!

You sneaky little devil.  Going into surgery and not letting us know!  I had forgotten that your date was in June.  Welcome to the losers bench!   And your new life!  If you have any questions, just ask.  Although you may be going stir crazy in the hospital, enjoy it as once you get home, it is easy for the kids to fall back into the MOM!  Where are you?  Mom, I need....  Be sure to take it easy as you will be tired.  Milk it for all that it is worth.

Have your hubby bring you a pillow for the ride home if you did not bring one to the hospital.  You will be thankful for that.

Thanks everyone!  I'm home and kinda having a rough morning today.  Woke up with a headache, I'm drinking water and just ate a SF popsicle which tasted like heaven on a stick.  I tried drinking a protein shake but thought I was going to hurl so I stopped and put it in the fridge to try again later.

The hardest part has been taking my pills.  It seems like no matter how small they are they get 'stuck'.

I did get on the scale last night and almost had a heart attack.  Yes they pumped me full of at least 12 pounds of fluid, holy water retention batman!!!  I could tell it would be bad though because my hands and ankles are swollen with water.  That will be the last time I get on the scale until the dr. appt. next week.  It didn't frustrate me, just made me realize how much fluid is in me.  I could totally float right now.

I would love to go to the Streator meet and greet but we will be on the road home from North Carolina that weekend.  We are going to spend the week with some family at the Outer Banks enjoying the beach and family relaxation! Woohoo!  I can't wait, I hope that I'm at least a few swimsuit sizes smaller by then.  My one cousin was saying that I will be prancing around in a bikini by then.  I don't think so!!! Even if I were to lose enough weight to sport a bikini i wouldn't due to all of the stretch marks and scars I have from pregnancies and surgeries in the past and present.

Well I'm just hoping to shake this headache soon and feel better.

Thanks for the positive vibes and support!!
