Hi Susan, like Lisa mentioned I am having the next Meet and Greet at my house in Itasca (not too far from where you live) on the 12th. We try to have a couple a year either in someone's home, restaurant or a clubhouse. It is a pot luck, family is welcome (spouses/signifcant others, children or come as a single). PM me if you can make it and I will give you my address and phone numbers.

Christine

PS - just wanted to add that everyone is welcome whether pre op or PO and non surgical weight loss patients.

Hello All... Just a newbie "checking in". Was just approved 2 wks ago for RnY after a 2+yr struggle with insurance, fears and doubts, anxieties, and all of the other reasons/excuses I could find. Progression of comorbidities made it increasingly clear that I need to close off the fears and doubts and take the necessary steps to gain more life, health, energy, happiness. My surgery is now scheduled for 6/28 and I've satisfied all of the "requirements". Next week will be my self imposed effort at living the post-op diet. Then comes the 2 week liquid phase, then the surgery. When I write "a week" or "2 weeks" it sounds so brief.......so why so much fuss and stress of "can I do this?". Right now I feel like this may be a mistake, but I believe that if I take it 1 step at a time, regardless of fears and difficulties, a few weeks and then a couple of months will pass.......then, hopefully I'll find the positive reinforcement to increase desire and energy for this "new life" ahead! Anyway, just discovered that there was an Illinois forum, so I wanted to stop by to introduce myself, to encourage others here who go through the same battles, and to ask for support through the difficult times ahead. Hope all is well with you all and it is comforting to know that many others have similar experiences and even are coming up on surgery dates soon, just as I am. Keep Positive and Focused on the Life we can rebuild in a more healthy manner!!

Just curious also.......is anyone else here having or had surgery by Dr Valina and/or at Central DuPage Hosp??  First impression of both seems really good, but would appreciate any feedback from others who've had surgery there or especially, by Dr Valina?? Thanks

Good evening. Fast fly by for me. I left work and had a hair appointment right after at 3:30, after that I came home and the new sod that was to be put in today in the front had arrived and the guys were there to install it. We had plans to go see the new Whole Foods store just south of Woodfield and we did that. I was looking for Quinoa (pronounced Keen-Wa) as Jewel did not have it, nor my favorite Ma 'n Pa grocery store. We were able to get it in bulk there. That new store is fantastic, but 'spensive. Afterwards we went to our favorite Aldi store in Elk Grove Village and got a few items for making dinners etc.

On my way outside before the 'skeetoes get too bad - I have been eaten alive already in the last few days.

ps for the regulars that have been following my backyard saga - public works (PW) (the idiots that they are) started today with the back yard drains for our water probs in our's and the neighbor's yards. I say "idiots" because they dug into a service line this morning when they started and that took 4 hours to fix first! Known PW for too many years with my career with the village.
