6 Months ...WOW!
Hello,
I am sooooo thankful for the OH board members and the information that is shared on this board. I didn't know anything about DS, until I looked around on the OH board.
The funny thing is that I was approved for the RNY and 1 month later the insurance person called me to let me know that the DS was then covered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of IL.This was a blessing and was approved for DS right away. I too was one that was going to settle for RNY, because of the insurance not covering. I think God was on my side in the wavering between RNY and DS and saying YOUR APPROVED! Dr. Alverdy strongly recommended DS for me because of my bmi was 64 as well.
I love the support of this page, and the continued questions that I have on a day to day basis. You guys ROCK!
Now my update....
I was 364 lbs at the time of my surgery...6 months later I am 250 lbs. I have lost a total of 114 lbs. I am sooooooo thankful for my DS. I feel better, and have a lot more confident about my appearance. I know that everyone has to make the decision best for them whether is RNY or DS! I think DS is the best surgery OVER any other WLS. My life is sooo complete with DS.
Dr. Alverdy at University of Chicago also ROCKS! He is the best WLS DOCTOR in the world (that's my opinion
).
