Illinois Medicaid Accepted for Band Adjustments?
Hi there,
My current surgeon at Mercy has taken on a new doctor who he is using for band adjustments only.
She's super unprofessional and makes me feel like an idiot every time I come in.
I told them that if I don't get to see the doctor that I originally signed up there under the
belief I would be working with I'd like a referral out. They told me that NO other hospital in
Illinois will accept medicaid for band adjustments. Is this true?

Hey I started out at Mercy I had Dr Bonomo but then he left and I was stuck with Dr Rosett and a black lady Dr forgot her name but I hated them both. They never wanted to give me a adjustment so I went on a search to find another surgeon. I started out there with PA but when I left I had Blue cross/shield PPO and it was so hard to find a Dr that would accept me since they did not perform my surgery. I finally went to Synchrony Medical in Oak brook which I had to have a port replacement due to leakage so they say I believe they did it due to not using fluro anyhow then finally I went to the Kane Center but by that time I had band erosion so Dr Rantis removed my band he was great. To make a long story short its so hard to find a surgeon that will take you if they did not place the band they don't want the responsibility if something happens to it down the line. Try West Surburban in West Lake I believe they are big on the band there with PA plus UIC wont even perform Lap Band surgery with PA card only the sleve and gastric.
Good Luck
