Tests
Hmmm...could be lots of things. Some that come to mind:
-pulmonary test
-vitamin levels
-iron levels
-white blood cell count
-some docs require a nicotine test, to determine if you are a non-smoker
If any of these are significantly "off," you could have to postpone or cancel your surgery. I have seldom heard of people getting cancelled for these things, though. And most of these things are fixable if caught early enough.

I had the kick-butt duodenal switch (DS)!
HW: 344 lbs CW: 150 lbs
Type 2 diabetes and sleep apnea GONE!
Nicole gave you a really good list and I am with her on that. Each person brings their own kind of health issues to the table. I can sympathize in this economy with the non-refundable $420 but do not let that be a stumbling block to you not knowing in the end if you will be able to follow through and get healthy by having surgery. For me I would welcome the tests because they might uncover a major issue that I did not know that I had. We have had individuals on the board (a couple names come to mind - Lisa, another girl that does not participate anymore and myself) that had issues come up, the situation was cleared up and we all went ahead and had surgery and are now living healthier lives.

ps - edited to add that my husband had issues with his sleep apnea and his surgery was postponed due to it but he eventually went on and had RNY and has successfully lost 185+#.
