New to the forum. Need help!
Hello
I've been reading these for a while and am in need of some help. I'm having RNY on May 17th. I start the liquid diet this week. I was hoping someone could give me a heads up as to what Dr. Lahmann's diet is as there seems to be some variations.
I travel a lot for work and need to get prepped not only for a couple trips before my surgery, but also for my life after. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as there seems to be a lot of good info here.
Thanks,
Jennifer

Hello
I don't know how much help I will be because It's been more than a year and the details are getting a hazy. But here's what I remember:
Breakfast and luch are all liquid- protien drinks (Atkins), jello, sugar free popsicles, broth. I know some people will puree food, but I find that very unappetizing. Then dinner is sensible low, low carb meal. So here is what my day looked like
Breakfast- Atkins drink, jello
snack- popsicle
Lunch- Atkins shake, broth, jello
snack- popsicle
Dinner- breast of chicken, carrots and greenbeans.
It gets boring really quick. To this day I still won't touch jello and popsicles. I got so sick of them. At the end of this diet I lost 10 pounds.
Good luck with your surgery. Please come on our daily roll call. We all talk about our daily lives and troubles. We here for support if you ever need it.

Hello Jennifer,
I had RNY with BMI on March 22nd. They do an awesome job. Here's the pre-op diet:
Breakfast - protein shake
Lunch - protein shake
Dinner - 4 oz lean protein and 1/2 cup non-starchy veggies
Can also have 2 servings each of broth, sugar free jello and sugar free popsicles each day. The protein shake will be part of the kit you will get when you pay your $350 program fee. I liked the mint chocolate chip the best.
The first few days are pretty hard but then it gets much easier. Good luck to you, you're in good hands.

Hello Jennifer, and welcome to the board.
I had a bad, and was not one of Dr. Lahmanns people, but I think everyone does about the same. Since others have given you the "diet", I won't offer it again. But, afterward, some of the things you can have on your diet the following.
Liquid: Broths, pudding, jello, protein drinks, Carnation instinct, ricotta cheese, yogurt, Crystal Light
Puree: Cottage cheese, or anything you can puree.
Full: Anything you can tolerate, cut into very small peices. in small amounts.
A few of my always on hand things, Campbells soup in a cup, string cheese, protein bars. Crystal light.
FYI : Crystal Lights can also be used in vanilla pudding to change the flavor, in cottage and recotta cheese to do the same, as well as as drinking it. It will become your friend for life.
Good Luck with your upcoming surgery,
LISA
