Springfield area

Hello all!  I've recently moved to Springfield, IL from AK, and I was wondering if anybody could recommend a good RNY surgeon here for follow-up appointments and maybe point me in the right direction for some in-person support groups?

I don't live in Springfield (I live 2 hours away so I am sorry to say, I do not know any of the surgeons in that area.  Have you checked the list of surgeons listed on the OH site here?  They do have a fairly comprehensive list of surgeons.  

Many hospitals have support groups so you may be able to hook up with one through them.  

The Illinois folks meet here daily for roll call and share whats going on in our corner of the world.  I know it is not in person but we are really here for each other.  Also we get together about 4 times a year and always have a great time.

I haven't checked the surgeon list yet, but I'm going to.  I figured I'd ask here first and see if there is a favorite or one to stay away from.

And checking the hospital support groups is a good idea too - I'll look there as well.  The hospitals where I used to live didn't offer any groups, so I didn't even think to check them out!

You might want to check out Memorial's Bariatric program in Springfield.  They are a fantastic group! 

There is a surgeon group in Peoria, at St. Francis.Also at Barnes in St. Louis. I think there is also a group there in Springfeild, but not sure. Try, St. Johns.
