I had blood work done on the !st of April. It came back with me needing iron and Vitamin D.  I can order it on line the Dr recommended Ferretts, but I don't want to pay shipping. So if any one gets the stuff local where? What vitamin D do ya all get too! My trouble is it sits in the pouch and as it melts it comes back up and burns. I can not do liquid iron it makes me vomit from the taste. I need help in trying to get these supplements.  I also have high cholesterol and the crestor I was taking plugged up my small opening and caused me to get a hiatal hernia. I am supposed to be taking the omega 3, but it makes me so sick. I don't know what to do!

Thanks

Good morning Karen!

I will try to help, but getting the iron without shipping will be difficult.  I have searched everywhere and can not find what I need locally.  Being that you have a band, it may be a bit easier for you though.

I get my vitamin D3 from Wal-Mart.  They are small pills with no flavor and I actually chew them up with my chewable calcium.  I would think that you would want at least 2000 mg per day?

I get most of my other vitamins from www.vitacost.com.  They have a $4.99 shipping charge, no matter how big/small your order is.

VitaCost also has D3 in capsule form if you prefer it that way.  I suggest that all capsules be held in your mouth for a short time to soften them up, then "down the hatch" perferrably with warm liquid.

The iron that I use is made by Carlson Labs and it is called "Chew Iron".  It tastes like grape and is pleasant enough.  I take Iron with 500 mg of Vitamin C for better absorption.

The other suggestion that I have is to visit www.vitalady.com.  Michelle is a member of OH and VERY helpful and knowledgable about vitamins for WLS patients.  Her shipping may be a bit more, but her advice is priceless.

I have no experience with Omega-3, but Michelle (Vitalady) may be more helpful with that, and I know that VitaCost has some that they say is tasteless.

Hope this helps some.......

Tell someone that you love them!

Vitalady (Michelle) is a wonderful resource. She sells Coromega, which is a liquid/gel version of Mega 3. Should be easier to get down. Plus, she has some good Vitamin D.

I'd send her a PM and ask her what she would recommend for your individual case. She has a distal RNY and has been there, done that, about just about every issue, from iron to calciuim to everything!

As to iron, you can get infusions, too. The cost will make your shipping charge look like peanuts, though.

Good luck!

Thanks ladies! I did get the D3 at walmart and I found a small iron tab thats easy to take. I just take 2 daily of the d3 to equal the 2000 daily thats what Barb said I needed. Now for the omega 3 I found some Gummie ones and not bad. I just have to eat 5 daily. That is what my nut recommended when I asked her!  Thanks again for all your help!
