Hi - We don't get out to Trader Joe's but once a year or so, and today's the day (we have a meeting next door to the TJ nearest us today - out in Orland Park). It seems folks find certain items that are WLS-friendly there that they can't find in many other stores.

So, although we'll be on the road (and disconnected from the Web) in about 4 hours, I was wondering what you'd recommend as your TJ must-haves or favorites. Anything from protien powders, to SF syrups, to frozen veggies, to super-duper peanut butter.

I'll check back before we hop into the car. And even if you post later than that --- there's always next year! (Or, we might start doing special runs to TJ every month or so...)

THANKS for your feedback!!!

My always get list is

pre-made pizza dough (wheat)
pizza sauce
cashew butter (instead of peanut butter)
italian ground turkey
any of their produce
onion soup
the pre-packaged chicken parm.
that's all I can think of ...I'm sure there's more

Thanks! It was a fun trip and I basically brought a shopping list from your suggestions and the responses from the RNY board. Of course, the one thing that was actually on my grocery list for the week was evaporated skim milk, but I was having so much fun checking out all these new-to-me TJ items --- I completely forgot to check for the evap milk. :)

You only go once a yr? I go once a week. I do most of my shopping there!
You can find evap skim milk in most grocery stores. look in the baking area.
Hope you had a great time.

Same days it doesn't pay to chew the restraints off...

I guess it all depends on how far away from the TJ that the OP is. For me I hardly go there as my closest one is in Glen Ellyn or in Arlington Heights. We have cut way back on our going here and there for a special item(s) we just do without but that is just us.

I know this is toolate for this trip, but the ONE thing I HAVE to get at TJ's is the B-12 sublingual vitamin with folic acid (High Potency).  It is the perfect B-12 for me.  It is tiny and disolves under my tongue while I make my protein in the morning.

Tell someone that you love them!

I checked into this thread a litle late.

I'm curious, did you try anything new from TJ's?  If so did you like the products?

Hi - Yep, some were new to me. I liked everything, but those dried wabasi peas definitely have a kick! I think we'll make going to Trader Joe's it a monthly excursion.
