Tuesday Roll Call
Afternoon Illinois!
I've been busy the last two mornings. And in pain. I have bursitis in my right knee and it is getting worse each day. I see my rheumy next monday and I'm requesting cortisone shots for it. I'm going to tell him to make it a double it hurts so darn much. Then today our St.Bernard thought she was protecting me from the guy outside our house walking in the road so she ran in front of me and knocked me back so I twisted my left ankle. So now when I walk I can't move my right knee and my left ankle hurts. I'm a hot mess.
Anyways, today I had to bring in my youngest child's birthday treat for preschool (I made a cake that looks like the Candyland board game, full of starburst, hershey kisses, frosting, and lollipops!) and then I had to bring in snack for my middle child's kindergarten (I made smiley face sugar cookies). So I was up late decorating and then up early to get it all to school in one piece.
Then I worked and I faced down a pet peeve of mine. I work in the school lunch room with grades k-8th. At the jr. high lunch time I over heard a 7th grade boy say to a 7th grade girl: "You should have the chef salad so you can watch your weight.". That made me so mad. The girl was offended (she is not overweight at all, not that it would make a difference). So I pulled the boy from his table and confronted him about it, he said he was just joking but I told him that while he might think it was funny the person who heard it may not. That even if the person he said it to laughed about it, he could never be sure that deep down they may be seriously hurt by the remark. He seemed to sober up and realize that I was not kidding and that his statement was hurtful. He went and apologized to the girl in front of her friends. I hope he remembers this the next time he wants to make a quick remark about someone's weight, whether it's a joke or not. The kids know that I don't tend to jump on them about much, so when I do they know it's pretty serious.
The rest of my afternoon is being spent with my feet up and then taking my youngest to his birthday dinner. He has selected Culver's.
I've been going to bed pretty early these nights as well so I think I will do that again!
