I think you'll find you really enjoy this board. You'll find good advice along with very friendly, supportive members. I'm just starting my journey (surgery is March 22nd) so I don't have much advice to offer you but wish you the best of luck on starting over and congratulations on quitting smoking.
There is a support group in Joliet on the 4th Wednesday of every month at Silver Cross Hospital. It starts at 6:00 pm so the next one will be March 24th.
Good luck and welcome again.

So glad you introduced yourself! I hope you come back often because this is a great place for support and friendship. We even get together face-to-face a few times per year!
There is a group here on OH that is geared specifically for those who need to get "Back on Track Together" and here is the link if you wish to check it out:

That said, I hope you decide to hang out with us too.
See you on the "Roll Call"!!!!
Sounds like you've been through a lot. "Normal" people, without weight loss surgery, would be struggling too with what you've experienced. Hang in there! Make little changes each day--they will add up to a lot.

There is a support group this Thursday if you would be able to make it. Dr R has some very relevant topics throughout the year and he and most of the staff attends the meetings when they can. This might be a very good topic for you to hear. If you cannot make the meetings they video them and post them on the website later on.

Denise, I am doing very well and holding my own. I have ups and downs with my weight but that is normal and I have a fantastic tool to keep it that way. But I do not have massive gains in the major #s. My insurance is the same as yours and my carrier with my employer covers me to see any doctor I choose to see. My ins. is of the IL carrier. I encourage you to call and talk to Barbie or another on the phone and intro yourself . . . they will make you feel like you have found home, need I say more? There are many others that drive from further away than you - like from the Indianapolis area. We are supposed to have good weather on Thursday . . .

Dr R and his staff make you feel like you stopped by for a visit with your family! Keep it mind that if you can not get back to basics on your own, come on to a support meeting. If you go to DR R's page you will also see some mid month meetings posted!
