HI Everyone!

It's me, your long lost friend.  I have been MIA on here and all my other boards except for a little Facebook.

I am working FULL TIME now, yes you read it right, full time.  I am a clinical nurse supervisor for a home health company.  I started out part time a couple hours a day about 2 days a week.  Now POOF!  I am a clinical supervisor working full time.  The money is great, but I am hardly home much and when I am, I dont have much computer time.  Plus I am on the computer alot during the day, and dont feel like it at night.

I am stuck on wt loss, trying to eat the right things.  I found out that I can now drink diet coke, ( I know , BAD  BAD  BAD) and I am addicted again.  I try to only have one a day, but somedays I have more.  I try to get the water in too.

My labs are all out of whack, calcium very low, vit D low, ferrtiin low, iron low I could go on and on.  Most of that is because for a  long time we could not afford to buy the vitamins, hence me going back to work.  Now we can, and I cant even find the time to order them.

Any suggestions on what kind everyone uses.  I used to get Optisource but I am not sure if that is the best choice out there.  ANy Suggestions?  I need some good ones for sure, I am mess.

I need to start taking care of me again.  I take care of everyone else all the time, and then I turn into a mess.

My dad had his last chemo for his pancreatic cancer and is waiting for next week to get a CT scan and blood work and then the next week to see the dr.  We will see how the chemo is working and IF the chemo is working. then and what if any thing they are going to do next.

Noah spent a month and a couple of weeks in the hospital over Christmas again, so we had to deal with that too.

SO much going on.

FOrgive me for being AWOL, I have thought about all of you often, and miss you all.

I will try to get back here now on a reg basis.

Hi Eileen!!!!

So good to see you again, I was wondering about you.

I get most of my vitamins at www.vitacost.com.  They seem to have the best prices.

Here’s what I get from them:

Carlson Labs, Chew Iron  28 mg.  (I take 2-3 per day with a 500 mg chewable Vitamin C when I get up early AM to go potty.  Iron does not work and play well with others, except for the C, so you have to take it 2 hours away from anything else, including milk or caffeine.)  The vitamin C I usually get at Wal-Mart, but Vitacost has many choices.

B-12 Sublingual  2000 mg  (1 per day-morning)  (can also be found at Wal-Mart)  I like the ones from Trader Joe’s the best, but to simplify things, Vitacost will do.

Jarrow Formulas Vitamin E  DRY capsules 400 mg  (1 per day-morning)

Nature’s Way Dry Vitamin A & D (1000/400 IU) capsules (1 per day-morning)

NSI Vitamin D3   2000 IU capsules (I take 4 per day with calcium citrate)

NSI Chewable Calcium Citrate with D3 & Magnesium  (I take 8 per day, 2 at a time, with 1 D3, spaced 2 hours apart throughout the day)   (Sounds a lot harder than it is……..I just put them in a small container in my pocket or on my desk, then chew 2 calciums and take a capsule 4 times throughout my shift)

NSI Probiotic 10-20 500 mg capsules (for gas)  1 morning and 1 night

I also take a B-100 (1 each morning) and the generic brand of children’s chewable “complete" from Wal-Mart (1 morning, 1 night).  I also take 4 stool softeners (generic Colace) each night to keep things moving.  These I get at Wal-Mart, Walgreen’s, anywhere, really…….

Don’t forget the protein, too!!!!  VitaCost also carries many brands of protein, but I find that www.bodybuilding.com has the very best selection and prices (and the delivery is lightning fast!)

The underlined items is what you SHOULD be taking at minimum.  The others, I take as extra insurance.

I hope this is not too confusing.  I could always send you an Excel Spreadsheet…….

You need to TAKE the TIME to take care of YOU.  I will help in any way I can, you know!

Tell someone that you love them!

Congrats on the job! I wish your dad strength and success.

Sorry about your vitamin deficiencies. You may want to visit www.vitalady.com. You can also post a thread on the MB with "Attn: Vitalady" on it, or send her a PM. Michelle is super-good at helping people get back on track.

You do not have to take her vitamins, but her regimens are good. She is a distal RNYer who faced a truckload of deficiencies (which lead to osteoporosis) and her research showed her she was not alone, so she and her hubby started Vitalady years ago.

I had a DS, so our needs are a little different, but I take the following:

-Vitamin D3 (vitaldy)
-calcium citrate (Costco)
-Vitamin A (Vitalady)
-multivitamin (any old store brand)
-B complex (vitalady)

I imagine some of these are on your shopping list, too. Vitalady also sells good, easily-absorbable iron you might consider.

Oh, and I drink Diet Coke EVERY day.

Take care of YOURSELF too!

Nicolle

I had the kick-butt duodenal switch (DS)!

Hi my friend!!  So good to hear from you.  I have also been AWOL for a while, though I have been trying to jump in here more often because I need the support again.
I use the Optisource Vitamins and they've been working great (when I remember to take them and the extra's I take too)  I am TERRIBLE with remembering that stuff.
Congrats on the job and working right up to the top!  way to go.  I am still going to school, will graduate in June with my MA and then going to go to Waubonsee and start working towards my RN!  I am very excited as it's always been something I wanted to do.
I'm sorry about Noah being in the hospital again and will pray that your dad continues to do well!!
Love you girlie!

Monica
