OUCH! Hope you are feeling better today!  I devised a kinda strange way of dealing with the ice when I have to walk to our garage.  I bring a beach towel.  I lay it down on the ground in front of me and step on it.  It stops the slipperiness (sp?) and I kinda shuffle my way down the sidewalk.  I probably look completely ridiculous but I make it safely to my garage with no falls!

I have hip replacements and the last thing I want to do is fall and risk having one pop out! So for safety sake I'll look stupid.

I had a bad thing happen this morning though.  I have a self opening garage door (meaning myself has to open it, no auto-door opener here).  Apparently the door did not stay completely up and I didn't notice..At least I didn't notice until I backed my van into the edge of the door and bent the bottom of the garage door out...  Thankfully my van is not damaged but the door now doesn't shut the entire way...Oh well, guess with the tax return we'll be getting a new garage door AND an automatic door opener!!!  There goes my trip to Phoenix..

Lisa, ouch!  Hope you are ok.  My girlfriend says she fell on theh way out of work, by her car and last night told me she thought she bruised (and hopes she didn't break) a rib!  I'm trying to stay upright, but not easy!  LOL  georgie

Good morning Crystal and the rest of Illinois!

Crystal--I take the children's chewable from Wal-Mart.  I have looked at the values and they are good.  I take one in the morning and one at night (along with the other handfuls of vitamins I take as a RNY).  My tests are always good too.  I also found a decent chewable calcium citrate at www.vitacost.com.   It is their NSI brand with D3 & Magnesium.

I had no problems getting home last night or to work this morning.  I will work all day then home for dinner.  The boys have Scouts, so Liv and I will be on our own.

Tell someone that you love them!

Sherry and I went to Jameson's on Dundee last night for her birthday and I have to say the service and the meal were excellent.  Of course my total consumption was less than a cup so I will have liver and onions for a few days.  That is ok though because I like to eat it with ketchup and enough horseradish to blast my sinuses so likely that is not something I would do in Jameson's.  I had not had liver and onions out since leaving Houston and cafeterias behind.

No falls that I know of today in our family.  The parking lot was just short of being a rink when we got home last night.  Your foot would slide but stop on uncoated areas that was pretty uniform.  We only got a few short showers of the icy rain up here and I went through one of them on the way home but it was not even long enough to turn on and leave on the wipers.

So you have been forgiven?

Good morning, Crystal and Illinois,
Hope you're not too sore today Lisa.  Our driveway was very scary this morning.  Went to the gym this morning so that felt very good.  Called my surgeon's office yesterday and they have all of my clearances so was told my file was on her desk to send the request to my PCP to have him request the referral for surgery from my insurance.  Yay, one step closer.  Heading to a club meeting today for lunch at a local restaurant then to my Mom's.  Have a good day everyone and stay safe.  At least our drive had melted when I got home from the gym.

Good day IL -

Hope everyone is having a good day!  Had to go to the doctor today for my one month check-up and to the pulmonary doctor (I have a CPAP).  Everything went nicely - I have to get a new CPAP machine or I think that the one I have can be changed to a variable levels.  Right now I cannot wear it for more than a hour because the pressure messes up my sinuses - so the doctor says with the weight I have lost I need less.  Yeah!  Had to get my B12 shot today and a B1 shot because I admitted that I have not been taking my vitamins.  Needless to say that they were very worried about the B1 - I did not know all the problems that vitamin deficieny - my goodness!  I will be taking all my vitamins from here on out - what a dummy I am!

Have a great day and stay safe.

If I recall right, I continued receiving my B12 shots at Dr. McClellan's until about 6 months out and then switched to tablets.  The B1 I take orally daily.  She has both available for sell at her office which I find very convenient and they are made for bariatric patients.

Glad to hear that no one wiped out on the ice. My hubby did that the day after Christmas in 2008, and broke a bunch of bones. Not good.

My Thursday was better. The psych eval might require three sessions, with the first today -- he didn't get through the questionaire with me. He seemed a little concerned about it my family (hubby & kiddo) will be able to keep the home "clean" of the Bad Foods post-op. Hubby reports that he will, but I'd like to see it happen now.

Yes, the sting of the psych eval cost is less b/c now I realize just b/c the provider is not in-network, my Cigna PPO might cover it at the out-of-network rate. I'll put in a claim and see what happens.

Say, I posted this on the RNY board and thought anyone pre-op might be interested. It's a self-hypnosis audiorecording (I have it on CD) to prep for surgery (track 4 for is for post-op healing help):
