I have a date
Hello, my Illinois friends. I have been busy with work and being sick in the last week so I haven't had a chance to post. As you can tell from my profile, I have a date. 2/16/10 is the big day. I am slowly trying to get everything taken care of so I can be prepared. I am super calm right now and excited.
My liquid diet starts tomorrow, ugghh! not looking forward to it. But a month should pass by quickly. I'll have plenty to keep me busy, I have to get my apartment ready before my parent's come.
I hope everyone has a great day!

Congratulations on the surgery date!
You will be fine on that liquid diet. The first 3 days are the hardest. I just kept focusing on my goal of surgery. I definitely wanted laprascopic surgery so I just kept telling myself that there was no way on this green earth that the surgeon was going to open me up, find my liver had not shrunk enough and do the surgeon open.
I did find that hot tea would take the edge of the feeling of hunger. Also someone shared with me to mix chicken broth with beef broth for a new flavor and it was better than either one of them alone and was good to fill you as well. Also, sugar free Popsicles became my friend whenever I wanted something to chew on.
Good luck and hang in there!

Yeah, Congrats to you on your date. Nancy is right, the first 3 days are the hardest as your body adjusts to 'stuff" it is used to having. (ie in my case SUGAR and CAFFEINE! LOL) I also wanted to suggest that if you buy chicken noodle soup and stain that broth off, for some reason it is tastier than "just regular broth". Good luck and we'll save a place for you on the losers bench!
