Stephanie,

39 inches and 65lbs in 3 months? I would be ecstatic! You are doing great! The scale doesn't always move, but don't worry. You really are doing great.

Stephanie, 39inches and 65lbs is wonderful!!  Great job!!  Sometimes when the scale doesn't move those measurements bring everything back into perspective.  That definitely is a terrific accomplishment!!  Keep it up.

Hi everyone!

I've had the same kind of issues with the band. Sometimes I can eat anything and sometimes almost nothing. I keep trying to remind myself that restriction is mostly supposed to be done by my head not my stomach. I'm supposed to eat until I'm not hungry--not full, but no longer starving. Ok, I'd rather enjoy the taste if I can get more in, but that's not the point of the band. It is to learn to eat less, like true thins do (if there are any--my mother in law was one. IF she has a hunger for a chocolate chip cookie, one bite would take care of it. Crazy, isn't it?) Anyway, a half cup of something probably takes away the hunger--it's my job to put nutritious things in the half cup, not the bands. My mind tells me to eat for as long as I can and that's what I have to fight.

Hope everyone has a safe and lovely day. Thanks to those of you who are wiliing to use regular size print so old people like me can read it! I appreciate it!

Good morning Crystal and Illinois!!

I'm getting prepared to go to work this morning, as I get to close there tonight.  I actually don't mind today, because I got in a great night's sleep and don't feel tired at all!

Crystal and Lisa - I really do hope that you have your band problems solved soon!

I had a little bit of an NSV yesterday - My husband was telling me that he can feel that I have lost weight when he gives me a hug and when I look in the mirror, I'm starting to actually see it!

Well, not much else going on here at home and I have to pack my protein for my dinner!  Have a great day everyone and enjoy the warmer weather while we have it!!  Take care Illinois!

Kathy

Okay, not sure what happened there and how I deleted my own post!

Bandsters here continue to make me glad that I went with RNY.  I wish there were a way to make that a positive for the bandsters as well.

So you have been forgiven?

Hello to all -

Hope your band issues are better soon.  Not fun stuff at all!
Stephanie that is so awesome losing so many inches and 65 pounds!!!  I am totally going to have to have my husband help me measure tonight.  Yeah should have done this before the surgery, but better late than never.
Tonight is my first suport group at Mercy in Harvard.  Excited to see what it is all about.  Hearing everybody talk about getting their cars wash - I should totally do that on my way this afternoon.

Have a great day all!

Good Afternoon Crystal and Illinois!

I hope you get that issue resolved, I know that feeling isn't pleasant. You are right, call your doctor, don't try to fix this yourself. Tomorrow is Friday and thats the worse day to call.

Went to  walk early this morning and preparing for a great 30 degree day. I decided to work from home today just to get a mental jump on my weekend.  Working on my fluids, and my goal for the weekend is to find new protein supplements (bars that are good and not so high in carbs).

See you guys tomorrow!

RNY on 09/27/10 with
Hiya, all! Hope everyone had a good (or getting-better) day. My day was a bit emotional. Not only is it a very busy time at work with lots of rough cases, but I had to place my elderly dad, who has dementia and is on Medicaid, in a nursing home today. He's a bit sad about his change in housing and placement, but is being stoic. He was in a very "nice" assisted living facility but has declined and now the only bed open was at a care facility that my sister and I do not like. I felt teary all day.

It made me wonder how folks with WLS who might have used food as a comfort/coping mechanism (like moi) do during rough emotional times post-op. You have to know that I feel like my life is pretty much spent wrestling with one serious crisis or another for years. on. end. never. stopping. endless.  --- Sigh.

Can you be a successful WLS patient and live amid chaos and crisis? I think I'm going to have to get highly Zen or something.
