Sunday Roll Call
Revision on 04/19/13
Good Frosty Morning.
DH just called and told me that even though the sun is shining, it is -5. I was hoping to stay home today, but DH wants to go to Staples and do a bit of shopping. Why, I don't know. So, I will put a corn beef in the crock pot, and ride along with him.
the only other thing I got going today is to change the bed and fold some laundry. Pay a couple of bills too.
Have a great day, Stay warm, dry, and safe. Make sure those cars have gas in them. Ya don't want frozen lines in there. Ya also may want to leave the water drip in the kitchen and bathroom. That keeps the lines from freezing up.

Good morning Lisa and Illinois!
I want to go to Kohl's today. We had corn beef and cabbage a few days ago. It was soo good.
Dan and Jen are coming over today so we can celebrate Christmas.
Dan didn't want to get his gifts before Christmas and insisted we be together to open gifts. We are having chicken and broccoli casserole for dinner today. I am looking forward to spending some time with them today.
Not much more on the agenda today....have a great day and keep warm!

Good morning!
We are having friends over to dinner tonight but that's about all for today. It is a good day to stay inside and stay warm. I'm glad I'm not going out, even though I'd love to get a coffee at Meg's Daily Grind! Oh well!
Stay safe!

Good morning friends...
Drinking my morning coffee and planning the day, so thought I'd pop in to say hello. Have to run out and do a couple errands today, not that I want to go out and face this cold weather, but need to get some groceries and some supplements. The back home to hibernate. For Christmas, Earl bought me the Biggest Loser for the WII that I asked for. I have been doing it almost every day...although there are a few of the things I can't do because of my back. However, I keep movig during those parts anyway doing what I can. I'm hoping adding the exercise will help me keep on track. I have regained some of the weight I lost last year, 12 lbs, but am refocusing on what I am eating and making sure I move more every day.
I left OH for some personal reasons last spring but feel the need to reconnect here again. Thank you for allowing me to rejoin you on our journies!

Good morning Lisa and the rest of Illinois!
I am drinking my hot protein decaf and waiting for Liv to wake up. She was sick (vomitting) a few times last night and slept in my bed. I am hoping she is better this morning, but she may need some extra "mommy love". It is good to know that they still need you, even when they are 13.
I plan on putting a couple of small lamb roasts in for dinner and hope to stay in all day. I will probably have to go out to get Liv some ginger ale or 7-Up though.
We went to Wal-Mart yesterday and I got a set of PJs for $ 2.50!!!!! What a bargain!
Everyone stay safe and warm!

Good Evening Everyone
It is COLD out there! As if anyone did not know that already. Just got in from feeding the cats and now my hands are really cold. I was going to the store today but talked myself out of it really fast. I know I will need to go out tomorrow and decided I could wait another day to go to the store.
Dawn, your kids will always need their mommy when they are sick. I can remember when I had my first apartment and got sick. The thing I wanted most was my mom to come and take care of me. A rude introduction to the life of "Do it yourself"
I hope everyone had a good weekend and managed to stay warm.

Hi - I just tested the blog function on my OH profile page, and thought it might be an OK "roll call" response. Not sure. Guide me here! ...
This is my first blog posting. Taking it for a bit of a test drive. I haven't even entered my "story" yet, as that one needs some thinking over. I can say that I've nosed around the message boards, focusing on the General and the Gastric Bypass (RNY) boards, and am checking out the Diabetes board. (I'm newly dx'ed with diabetes.) I've entered some goals to start the new year and to respond to my new diabetes dx and prep for WLS (if approved by docs and insurance). Activated a weight-tracker. Uploaded an avatar. (Wish OH had an "orientation" for newbies beyond the technical how-to info. Am still figuring out the culture and features of the site.)
I feel like I'm writing with my left hand --- and I'm a right-hander. Learning and responding to all this, and attempting to do it quickly, is very awkward and clunky. So, bear with me!
At least I'm old enough to have learned to be patient with myself. I've just turned 49 and am looking at 50 (whoa). That fact and the flurry of new health problems I'm encountering have brought me here --- to consider WLS and to need (want!) the support and information at OH.
You'll understand this: I want to live as long as possible. I have an 11yo child with disabilities for whom I must "be there" as long as possible. I'm a married, full-time white-collar worker with a husband who's unemployed due to massive layoffs in his industry. I live in Chicago. This --- OH --- will likely be my new home.
A thought: You know how a garden gets ready to break "hibernation" for the winter? The plant starts noticing that the ground is warming, the rains are hitting? That's what I feel is happening for me right now. I've been asleep for a very long winter, and now, I'm noticing that a big (welcome) change is coming. I'm reading lables again, plotting some exercise (basic movement, really is more like it), weighing and measuring and noticing portion size, and keeping a food log. --- I think the days are getting warmer (so to speak)!
Nice way to start a new year and new decade.

Welcome to the Illinois board. You will get a lot of support here! Check in as often as you wish with the roll call or post a specific question on its own. We even get together occasionally!
Take care and welcome to the journey!
