You're sweet, Dawn.

I've seen you in a mini-skirt--HAWT. You are a success! You won't see my saggy butt and legs in a mini!

See my above post to Crystal about the DS. It's not perfect.

I had the kick-butt duodenal switch (DS)!

HW: 344 lbs      CW: 150 lbs

Type 2 diabetes and sleep apnea GONE!

Hi Crystal,
I am with you.  I am really frustrated.  I am as tight as Dr Lahman wants to get me and I still have no restriction.  So I am counting calories very closely and am hungry all the time, just like before surgery.

I will let you know when the next support group is.

Unlike most people on here,I thought Dagny really had a good idea,
UNTIL she DENIED me for her group! I just had WLS surgery but have not been
out of surgery long enough,in her mind to need the support to stay motivated!!
HAH! THAT is ridiculous,we're all fighting the same battle here and all need support,
no matter what stage of the game we're in. RIDICULOUS!!!

This really is an unfair assessment, Megan. At this point in your journey you will find the most benefit connecting with others also just starting out. Those of us who are now a year or more down the road and who have lost all or most of the weight we set out to lose have a significantly different perspective.

It is not my intention to be all things to all people. I am specifically reaching out to those who are now experiencing the on-going challenges of getting on with the rest of our lives.

I am really baffled by the bizarre negative reaction here. I don't think my targeted group is any different from a men's group, a gay and lesbian group, a group for singles, a group for DS, a group for lap band...anything like that intended to appeal to people with a common trait or perspective. So my group is for people in maintenance, what I like to call "The Rest of Our Life" phase. What's so unusual or unfair about that?

I'm NOT "fighting the same battle" as you anymore Megan. My needs and challenges have changed quite a bit from when I was in my first year. I am now in my fifth year. I deal with things now that you have yet to experience. You'll get there but you're not there yet. I wish a wonderful journey for you. It's just beginning...Enjoy the adventure!

I am sorry.  If you weren't so far away I would invite you to our group in Jokiet.  It's open to anyone, even those just thinking about WLS or people trying to get approval.  If you are interested in a long drive into Joliet just say something and I will get you the info.  I hate clubs/groups that exclude people

So obviously you HATE the idea that I would like to connect with other people like me who have lost all the weight and we now face a unique set of challenges and perhaps we might like to chat with people who understand what that's like....? Hmmmmm.

Groups for men, groups for young people, groups for people over 50, you'd HATE any thing like that? How about groups for gays and lesbians? Hate them too? Christian groups? People who want to share how they integrate their faith into their weight loss struggle? Hate them? They ought to let the atheists in!  I've got a FANTASTIC IDEA!! How about I find a group for people who had WLS that failed and I go to their group and talk about how great my life is now at half my former size!!! They will love that! I can talk to them about what they're missing!

Yeah the idea of SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS to find people who understand you... THAT'S AN IDEA WORTH HATING! Why have lots of groups and devote any time or effort to finding one that's right for you when every group should just be the same and be all things to all people all the time! Reaching out to find people like me---what a despicable idea!

Interesting  You presented the group as a group for ANYONE who has had weight loss surgery.  Go to your very first post of this thread.  Now you tell us you are revising what you want in the group.  No wonder you are having trouble finding people for YOUR group.

Good suggestion, go back to my first post. The one that directed people to visit the Meetup.com site for more information and to sign up. The link was provided. And here's the group information still there to be found:

Only those of us who've been through it know what it's like to lose 100lbs, 200lbs, more than half your bodyweight or more... Learning about the new person you've become is an on-going journey. Gastric bypass, duodenal switch, or lap band---If you had weight loss surgery about a year out the novelty wore off and you realized it was time to figure out how you were going to live the rest of your life.

Meet with other people who are sharing your challenges to discuss nutrition and diet, fitness and exercise, dealing with those past demons you thought were gone, social issues you hadn't imagined, moving on from the past, and adjusting to the different way the world views you now.

I had WLS in 2005 and lost half my body weight in about a year. I've maintained my weight loss but I still deal with the challenges of my past all the time.

The group will meet the Third Tuesday of every month in the party room of a North Side highrise convenient to the Berwyn Red Line stop and Sheridan Road buses. Paid parking is available.

This group is for people who have had weight loss surgery, lost all or most of their weight, and are now in maintenance. People who lost weight through WLS and then gained it back are especially welcome. This group is NOT for people considering WLS, have just recently had WLS, or for those who have lost weight without surgery of some kind.

I think you have crossed the line.
I'm really sick and tired of the way you are treating the people on this board.  We are all here to support one another and if that is not what you intend to do, hit the highway.  We don't need the negativity.
I'm sorry you are so miserable but I do hope you are able to find happiness some day.  I will pray for you.

Thanks Christina and Nancy, for coming to my defense.  I was only trying to be supportive to circularsmiles.  I wasn't even talking to Dagny.  I was trying to make someone else feel better after feeling rejected by Dagny.  I remember when I first started coming here, I was just starting out (I was months away from surgery) Thank god you guys were all there for me and didn't turn me away just because I hadn't had my surgery yet.  Because I have to say any problems I have whether weight related or not you are all there.  Thanks  for being true friends.

I'm not even going to say anything about the rude remarks on this thread directed towards me.  I have never seen anyone come on here and act so horribly.
