A slippery slope
I am about 28 days out from my surgery. The 30th will be a month. I'm feeling really good. If not for the scars, I might not even realize that I had surgery. I'm "feeling" good, but I'm not "doing" good.
I'm slipping back into my old eating habits. Last night was the worst by far. I'm doing okay during meals, not overeating, listening to my body, watching portions, but then the snacking starts. I'm not hungry, I'm just eating to eat. Not so much cravings as a compulsion to eat. The extra food around the house doesn't help. I feel like I should be able to handle it, but I'm not.
I need to figure out some way to get it through my head. I probably need some therapy, too.
I'm just so disappointed in myself.

I am doing the same thing. I have finally come to the conclusion that I have a problem of compulsive eating. I am looking for a psychologist to work with. I did not realize just how bad my problem was until after the surgery. As they say, they do not operate on our brains, just our stomachs. Keep coming here for support. It helps.

Sue. I agree with what Sherrie and Nancy said. We all have our demons. Afterall, we are human.
Get the goodies out of the house. Then start over. Forget yesterday, tomorrowbegin anew.
Don't be disappointed in yourself. It won't help. we need to do this one day at a time.
Hugs,
LISA

1. Get rid of the junk. Feel your home with healthy snacks.
2. Attend support.
3. Look for a good therapist.
4. Check out Overeaters Anonymous.
You are very early in the honeymoon phase. Take full advantage of this by eating right and getting the help that you need.
Surgery changed our bodies, not our habits. Good luck to you!

Sue, I have not tracked my food to date, but lots of people here on OH seems to like www.sparkpeople.com, a free site. It pulls up, from its vast database, all of the data on the food you eat. Should help make it easier.
Good luck!
