Approved :)

Well, I was approved a couple of weeks ago and finally the Dr's office called to get the ball rolling.  I was itching to call them back but I held off.

I'm amazed at how quickly things are starting to move. I called today and I'm already scheduled for most of my pre op testing.  I have a couple of questions though, I hope maybe some of you could help.  I didn't schedule my EKG yet, do I do that now or wait?  I have an appt with my PCP this Saturday so I'm not sure if I should ask if he can do it then or not.  I have my chest xray and ultra sound for the gallbladder on Sunday.  The endoscopy is scheduled for Monday.   Also,any thing I should be asking? 

I won't be scheduling my surgery date until all the results are sent to my surgeon, but I like to be prepared.

First off.....CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Definately ask the doctor on Saturday about the EKG.  They can probably do it the same day or with the other tests.  He will know what you need.

I can't tell you any specific questions, but write them down as they occur to you and ask when you get there.

Congratulations!  It is a very exciting time.  I agree with the PcP/Ekg question.  Once the surgeon gets your results, things will move pretty quickly, I bet.  Do you know anything about a pre-op diet?  I'm sure they'll prep you on all that when they schedule your surgery.  I had to attend a 2 hour class that the surgeon's office put  on and they answered questions gave everyone a Dvd that documented food, exercise and what you need to be doing before/during/after surgery.  It was/is very helpful.

I just went through the same office.  You want your EKG to be within 30 days of surgery, or they'll just have to do it over (found this out the hard way!).  So make sure you get your date, and then schedule that part.

Thanks everyone!  I'm super excited.  Although, I am not looking forward to the liquid diet. I am lucky enough to be on it for a month before my surgery date.  I am so grateful to this website and everyone in the forums, their honesty and help has really helped me feel comfortable with the decision I have made.  Thank you again!
