I'm 3 months post op RNY, and I dont claim to be an expert by any means. But I have a friend who had RNY 8 months before me and she has done well. We had a conversation regarding stretching the pouch. She said its easy to do. Its not the amount of food you eat at one sitting, but if you eat alot of times a day. I was told its hard to do and is cause by long term overeating at one sitting? Anyone know for sure?

Well, no it is not eating/grazing several times a day - it is eating massive amounts (over stuffing yourself) multiple times a day - day in and day out for months and months or years and years. Having a nibble here and there several times a day will by no means stretch the pouch.

It is advisable to have several small meals and snacks a day as it helps keep your metabolism up through out the day as it helps your body utilize the calories better.  My doctor's office recommends 3 & 3 - 3 snacks and 3 meals.

You have mentioned her before and if I remember correctly she has been inaccurate with her info. Keep coming back and ask your questions.

editd to say that she needs to be a little further out to make the statement that she made or should I say ACCURATE statements.

A doctor from my work had a lap RNY a few years ago. She had regained a lot of weight back. They did an endoscopy and the pouch hadn't stretched at all it was the opening into it. Her doc said that is what will stretch out. She had the stomafix about 11 months ago and has now lost 110 lbs.

Wow! That is the ONLY success story about that procedure I have heard about on OH, even on the revisions board. Glad it worked out for her.
