I'm looking into WLS again.

I was banded in 2007 in Arizona had the band removed in 2008 due to complications.

Now since I've gained back 80 pounds I'm thinking for WLS again. I know I must be crazy.

I paid for my band the first time but now I have great insurance and looking for them to pay for it this time.

I live in Morris IL. I moved from AZ a year ago  so I'm looking for a pro-active primary care physicand and WLS doc.

Who do you recommend'

I don't know how far you want to travel but I highly recommend Dr. McClellan as a surgeon.  She is in Harvard IL.  My PCP in Peru IL is extremely WLS friendly and highly knowledgeable.  Very supportive.

Hi - if you are in Morris, my doc would be nice an close.  BMI in Joliet - Dr. Lahmann and Dr. Joyce.  They are at Silver Cross Hospital and so far, I am very impressed with everything.  I have my surgery next week.  Their practice is a Center for Excellence and everyone who I have talked to that has gone to them cannot say enough.

I Second what Jaybird says about Silver Cross and Dr. Joyce/Lahman.  Dr. Joyce just did my lapband.  Very happy with the practice.

I too had my surgery at Silver Cross in Joliet.  The BMI center is a great place to have WLS.  They have a great before, during and after care program.  Dr. Lahaman, Dr Joyce and their staff are great.  As you can see here their patients are quite satisfied.

I would also recommend Dr Lahman and Dr Joyce.  I had my surgery from a different surgeon and he no longer does bariatric surgery.  I have recently found Dr Lahman for my fills and wish I would have went to him in the first place.

I can also chime in here for Dr. Joyce. I had my surgery done two weeks ago and I am still here. :)

Thank you all *****sponded Dr. Lehman and Dr. Joyce are highly recommend by my insurance company too.

Now I need to figure out what road to take. This is the hard part. There are a few WLS options I really don't even know where to begin. I guess I will start with the meeting with the baratric surgeon and go from there..

You may want to attend one of their informational seminars.  Here is what I copied off their website, www.bmisurgery.org

Free Informational Session

Obesity & Your Health: Is Weight Loss Surgery Right for You?

The free informational session is presented by the Bariatric Surgeons. Participants will learn about the advantages and risks of traditional and laparoscopic bariatric weight loss surgery (including Lap-Bands), find out who is a candidate for the procedure, and hear from area patients about their experiences.

Informational Sessions are held every Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the Brown Cardiovascular Institute Lobby, which is located inside the Specialty Care Pavilion on the Silver Cross Hospital campus, 1300 Copperfield Ave., Joliet. Please bring your insurance card. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Call 1-888-660-HEAL (4325) or click here to register to attend.

I don't know which WLS you are looking to get, as there are four weight loss surgeries out there, with various long-term success rates and post-op lifestyles: the DS, VG, RNY and band.

Be sure you know your options.

If you are interested in a DS, visit www.dsfacts.com for a list of vetted surgeons. There are a few in the Peoria area, Drs. Marshall and Rossi.

Best of luck to you!
