Friday Roll Call

My day at work is almost done. After I get home we will both get ready to go over to the Country Inn & Suites next to The Belvidere in EGV, check in and then have a wine at Charlie's Steakhouse next door to the banquet hall. We really enjoy the benefit for St Pete's. This year's theme is "Friday Night Fever", an 80's theme. There are a lot of people that I know from when I went to grade school there; I was in the first graduating class back in '68.

The Creek for us tomorrow as we are serving food in the green room back stage. Sunday I hope to get some of my inside decorations done also, in between packing for the Dells.

Wow, Georgie, you are doing great!  I'm glad you are feeling so good.  I really liked pudding with protein powder mixed in and no-fat refried beans with melted cheese when I was on the pureed stage.  I mixed a little water in with the beans to thin them out a bit.  El Paso brand makes a Spicy no fat variety that is soooo delicious.

I love Christmastime too, I just can't believe it is around the corner already!  I have to work on Thanksgiving, day after and Sunday of that weekend, so I don't think I'll get any decorating done until the week after that.  I may load my Ipod with the Christmas playlist though.  I'm all about the holiday music! 

In early December we (leaders) are taking our Daisy Girl Scout troop to sing carols at a local nursing home.  I have to spend some time this weekend finding some kareoke-type CD's so we have background music.  Earlier that afternoon we will meet at one leaders home to bake cookies, do projects and practice the carols.  With 28 six to seven year olds it will be a little crazy, but really fun. 

Well, tonight my husband is out of town, so I invited my mom over, and with Emily we will have a cozy girl's night in.

thanks for the ideas.  I always see the hormel chili, but El paso makes good sense.  I'll prbly give that a try! 

My 9 year old goddaughter was in the Daisy group when she was in first grade.  Her mom was the leader.   She had a good time.

Everyone is talking about Christmas already! I'm an early shopper but not decorator! When I was a young woman (years ago) I belonged to a church that  focused on St. Thomas Day which is Dec 21. The deal was, and I have done this every year since, to have everything done by Dec 21. Everything bought, wrapped, done done done. Then starting on the 22 the focus was on family activities. We might bake cookies, but there was no rush in it and the kids could paint the angels blue because the cookies were for them. We might hit the mall--but only to watch the hustle and bustle and have a cup of hot chocolate. It has made for a fabulous and smooth Christmas every year since--no drama, no staying up all night, no frantic meltdowns. I don't know if St. Thomas Day really is in December but it has been a wonderful plan which I totally recommend!

Georgie, I am thrilled that you are doing so great.  Just remember to take baby steps so you don't end up flat on your tush wondering what happened.    When I was in the puree stage, one of my favorites was cottage cheese.  I would use a hand /stick blender.  I used different seasonings.  Sometimes an olive or two or canned fruit to satisfy a craving.  Spices can really give it lots of different flavors.  I also love yogurt.  I know both are pretty plain but sometimes the tummy prefers the plain stuff better. 

As far as all those Christmas decorators out there ...... If anyone wants to do extra, you can always come to my house    Everything is in my basement so it wont go up this year.  I saw lights on as I drove home from work tonight and did a double take.  I understand taking advantage of warmer weather to put up outdoor lights but .... turn them on after Thanksgiving.  Just my opinion.  I love Christmas decorations and also would love to have them up a long time.  I just wish everything wasn't in my basement.  Next year, that should not be a problem.  

I am soooo glad it is Friday.  The longer this week went on, the worse people got.  They sure were cranky this week and so demanding.  I ended up on overtime tonight because one guy was trying to return a brand name cartridge that he insists came in a remanufactured cartridge box.  On top of this, they have used the cartridge. That would be like impossible.  Sigh.  Please tell me why a company that only produces remanufactured cartridges would happen to have an original name brand cartridge and seal the wrong type of cartridge in a remanufactured box?  Yeah, right!

My, my, my, don't we sound PERKY!  You must be feeling good, Christmas decorations and Wally World?  How wonderful!  How are you feeling?  I've been thinking about you and was wondering how you were doing.  I had lunch with my son (who had the Realize band surgery on 10/20) and told him about finding you on this website. 

On Monday, 11/16 I had my pulmonary test done (passed it) and my EKG.  I'm getting the ultra-sound of my heart done on the day after Thanksgiving and my stress test on Dec. 1 (same day as my first nutrition class).  Then, I will have everything DONE!  I guess all I do then is wait for approval by BCBS and a surgery date!  I can't wait to go clothes shopping!  I am so sick of wearing the same crappy clothes.  Everytime I buy something new, I'm donating something old!
