Getting my pantry ready..advice please...
Hi everyone,
I plan on hitting up the grocery store this weekend and getting what I will need to get me through the Pureed protein stage (week 1-2) and was hoping for some suggestion from the veterans. Based on my doc's plan I will be on Liquids during my stay at the hospitol (3 days) and then sent home on the pureed protein phase. I am suppose to eat 3 meals per day (3 Tablespoons of food per meal) and 64 oz of fluids per day.
Items that are on my list to pickup:
SF Jello
SF Pudding
SF popsicles
Protein shake on order and awaiting shipment
Pureed and strained Soup(s)? <--- not really sure I will need this one until phase 3 but wanted to get some feedback from you guys.
??????????
Thanks
Omar

Hi Omar,
I'm just coming off the pureed phase. Your list is a good start. Here's what else I ate:
fat-free refried beans pureed with a little water, with melted chedder cheese
no sugar added fudgesicles
canned lower-fat roast beef hash - surpisingly tasty even pureed
Any soups - easy to puree in a blender, tastes good.
Gerber babyfood bananas - only babyfood I can recommend
Gerber babyfood prunes - to prevent constipation
I had made some vegetable beef soup prior to surgery. It pureed beautifully and tasted delicious.
checkout http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.com She has more options for the pureed phase.
Good-Luck with all your preparations.

I had a really strict surgeon. My puree stage consisted of unsweetened applesauce, broths, pureed cottage cheese , scrambled egg beaters. light yogurt with no fruit chunks, low fat ricotta cheese; carnation instant breakfast,. fat free refried beans melted with reduced fat cheddar cheese, cooked mashed carrots, green beans, squash, baked orange roughy mashed and blended, tofu, split pea soup, bean soup, canned fruit, mashed/blended, canned chicken pureed with fat free mayonnaise. I used lots of seasonings. I found I really like spicy foods post surgery. I was never one for hot spicey food presurgery. Tastes change in surprising ways. I was on these foods for 3 months.

Omar -
I lived on Campbells Roadhouse Chili.. It's in the chili section and it's pre-made, you just open up the can, put it in your blender then into the pan or I used ramikens and thru them in the microwave. (this was one of my favorite but I think I ate it so much I can't stand this brand now. LOL
The other thing I really like and it tasted like a bit of heavan was low-fat ricotta cheese with a bit of ragu pizza sauce and a little parm cheese. Oh this is yummy. And again, just throw it in the microwave.
I found my using lots of tupperware containers at this stage.
Good Luck!
