University of Chicago
Hi All,
I went for my evaluation on 9/2/09 at University of Chicago Medical Center and was approved into the program on 9/10. As of now they still have not submitted my paperwork to my insurance company. Do you think that is normal or should I keep following up with them? I don't want to seem pushy and I know they are busy, but it just seems like the insurance company should have it by now. I did follow up with the dr's office on 9/29 and they said it had not been submitted yet. I called my insurance company today and they said it was not submitted yet, but to try back.
Thank you! By the way I've been working out & eating good so I'm happy to say that I've lost about 15 lbs! I'm determined to lose some weight on my own before surgery.

Call Alverdy's office. You are a (soon-to-be) paying customer for a big-ticket item and should be treated as such. If they will not move this along, tell them Dr. Rabkin's office will! And he has monthly support group meetings in Chicago, to boot. LOL.
Good luck!

Hi Jazzy,
I saw University of Chicago..and had to chime in...
I was very persistant with Dr. A office. I called everyday. I know I was a bother, but at some point I didnt care. I was begining to lose sleep, and think about me being approval all the time.
My thoughts were, if you are persistant, they know who you are and eventually would get tired of you calling and submitt right away.
The insurance person there is very very nice, and understanding. She has a lot on her plate, exspecially now with alot of folks trying to have the surgery before the end of the year, before January when folks start over with their deductable.
Let me know if you have any questions, I hope I can be of some help to you. I will be having my surgery on Nov 23. I trust that Dr. A and his staff will take good care of me.
Good Luck!
