I need help everyone...as most of you know I started school yesterday and I need ideas for lunches.  We get an hour break for lunch and there is no fridge to keep anything in.
What sorts of things can I take with that are healthy, high in protien and will last either in a cooler bag or my car...

Thanks in advance!

Monica

string cheese or chunk cheese
cottage cheese
yogurt (you can freeze the new whips style ones I think Dannon and Yoplait)
left overs if you have a micro in the cafeteria
small salads with chicken or tuna
chicken or tuna salad

I am sure I will figure out more and will add later on
added below:

Peanut butter on an apple
Peanut butter on a rice cake maybe with smashed banana also

If you live near an Aldi's they have these little premade chicken or tuna sald kits. They come boxed complete with a spoon and crackers. They are great chilled.

Monica,

I recently bought a 1 liter stainless steel thermos at Kmart for about 1/2 of what the other stores were selling them.  It works great to take some soup in it and it stays warm for hours!

Thank you Lisa!  these are great suggestions.  I suppose I could leave my food in my van too since it's gonna be cold enough in a while I'm sure!  LOL

I have packed my lunch every day  i have worked since surgery - our cafeteria at work has all really icky fried stuff and even the salad bar looks bad.  I bought an insulated lunch bag and blue freezer gel packs. it stays cold all day and are still frozen pretty well at the end of a 12 hour shift w/no refrigeration.  we have a frige avail - but it is often dirty and smelly and I refuse to use it.  people leave stuff in it for weeks on end. we do have a microwave avail too.

My standbys are

 cottage cheese wi th fruit

greek yogurt ( nearly 20 gms protein a cup) plain w/ a splenda and some fruit and granola

baby bel cheeses, whole grain crackers and a piece of fruit (can you eat an apple if you peel it?)

tuna salad

hard boiled eggs/deviled eggs

sf jello/sf pudding - premade or my own made and put in 1/2 c  plastic containers.

peanut butter and crackers, not the premade ones, my own 2 tb of good peanut butter in a tupperware container & whole grain crackers

ants on a log - celery with pb and raisins (use a veg peeler on the outside of the celrey to remove the strings and it is easier to eat)

home made soups - lots of chicken or meat cooked to total tenderness with a ton of veggies.

whatever is leftover from dinner , meat balls in sauce, chili w/ cheese on top, chicken and veggies, pot roast, cold shrimp w/ ****tail sauce

or bake an extra chicken breast for a planned leftover and put w/ some greens and salad dressing on the side in a tupperware container.

a whole wheat tortilla with chicken and cheese rolled up w/ a little lettuce or spinich and mustard

a quesadilla w/ refried beans, cheese and chicken

1/2 sandwiches

instant oatmeal

cereal with milk (kashi go lean - hi fiber hi protein) put the cereal in a tupperware and buy a carton of milk.

thanks for the great ideas!  Unfortunately I can't eat apples unless they are cooked.  I get really bad stomach pains and don't feel good if I do.

I am going to buy a lunch bag today and do this!
