Six days post op - gross
I am still in a good deal of pain. Hydracodone was making me sleep too much but Dr. V said I could switch to my Tylenol eight hour.
Major pain was I had been six days without a BM.
When I do have a BM I have to hang my bottom over the tub and clean it with a a shower head on a hose. I tried for an hour to go this morning But was getting nowhere but still felt like I needed cleaning up. Went through that about three times and then while over the tub, Boom, and there was this creature from the black lagoon that was 24 inches long and 1 3/4 inches in diameter.
The other gross thing is I have no drains. He tied me up loose at the bottom of my scar so I could just leak out.
Third gross thing is I burb all of the time and feel like I just ate way too much cabbage.

I think I had my first BM 4 days Post-Op and it was surprisingly normal. I expected it to be weird because of the barium.
I find the lack of drain odd, I thought all surgeons did that? Although, lugging that tube / bio-grenade around was a pain in the ass.
As for the burping, lucky you! I can not for the life of me get myself to burp. Instead any airpockets just sit there for hours and hurt me. I'm not even going to going into what happened when I took a sip of Sprite Zero and could not burp afterwards. Ugh, BIG mistake!
All these gross / odd things will go away soon! Hang in there!

Randy, I am glad that you finally had a BM. I didnt have one for 7 days post op and finally the surgeon's nurse had me take a small dose of milk of magnesia. That relieved a LOT (almost all) of the gas pain that I was having.
Your "drain" and mine are very similar now. I had a drain for 7 days and then had it removed. They left the drain site open to heal from the inside out. It's gross.. I leak.. the wound is uneven, one side is pulled in more than the other and it's just funky.
I burp all the time too! :)
Really glad to hear from you!
