What busy people...

Hello Illinois!

Wow, Thanks so much for all of the job info on Monday.  It was super to hear about what everyone has done/is doing.  As someone mentioned, it is a nice reminder that we all have busy lives, whether working or not...we all keep busy doing something!  I started trying to respond to each post separately, but just plain ran out of time.  So, again, thanks for your responses.  I certainly enjoyed reading all of them.

On a personal note, today was my day from He**.  Long story short....my goddaughter's mom, (she calls me her aunt, I call her my niece) had to have her thyroid removed on Oct. 2.  Lisa, Dr. Guske did the surgery.  (in 2002 he also did her gastric bypass!)  and she has had various other surgeries with him.  Anyway, they live down by Champaign.  it is a 2.5 hour drive from there to Alexian in Elk Grove.  SO...she has an abcess now, where the drain came out.  Went o Urbana Provena ER and they wanted to keep her overnight and then release her to go up to Guske.  Chloe (9 yr old goddaughter) was with her mom.  I left Manteno at 9 pm last night, went to stay the night with Chloe, got her up today for school, got Amy home and then we headed up to Alexean.  Got Amy admitted, but just got home at 8 pm.  I'm exhausted!!  We'll see what transpires for treatment, but hopefully they'll get the abcess taken care of.  Dr. G said it's "one in a million" that it happens.  GEEZ.  Good night!  georgie

Georgie, And I  thought I had the day from he**! At least mine started at the late hour of 8:am.

I hope they realize what an angel you are. To drive down 2.5 hours on I-57. Especially at night, after 9.  At the very lease, you got her up to the best surgeon there is, at the best hospital. Ok, thats my personal opinion.

You deserve a good nights rest. Kick your feet up and have a soothing hot coffee or tea, and relax.

Lisa

Good morning Georgie.

I hope you got a good night sleep. You are an angel and I am happy that Lisa had someone like you to help her in her time of great need. This just shows all of us what a wonderful person you are.

It will be good to meet you. If I get a ride I am coming to Paul's get together. Are you coming? I don't recall if you said you could.

Guske is a great doc. I've known him for years. Actually he was on our medical staff at the hospital I work. So I have seen both sides of him, as a patient and as a physician on our staff. He always got the respect of fellow physicians here at my hospital. So she is in great hands!

I'll keep her and family in my prayers.

Hugs,
Lucy

Hi Lisa and Lucy,

thanks for the kind words!  I agree, Dr. Guske seems like a great guy and a great doctor.  I know, surgically, my niece Amy wouldn't let anyone else touch her...but it is tough when she's so far away from him!  But she's at the best place she can be.  I'm impressed with Alexian's new additions.  Talked to Amy this morning and she's waiting for Doctors to start coming in.  HOpefully she'll be ready to head home in the next couple of days.

I did sleep like a log last night!  Up and at em' this morning.  Have a super (although rainy) day! geo
