Monday Roll Call
Hi Georgie!
I spent about 25 years in the Information Technology field before being downsized in January. At that time, I was the national manager of IT for a rental linen company. I decided to go back to an earlier passion in life and I am just finishing my massage therapy certification and plan to do personal and corporate massage and natural healing as my living. I also do wood turned art and sell it at arts and craft shows on the weekends.

Hi Paul,
I know that downsizing stuff is awful. Sounds like you were able to take a great path out. Best of luck to you on your new endeavor. I read your comment about getting with a chiro. I've always thought a massage therapist would be a wonderful addition to chiro offices. Hope all goes well for you. Like the art side, too. Hey, you IT people aren't supposed to be "warm and fuzzy" you're supposed to be "cold and analytical"! LOL geo

Hi Georgie
I am on my third or is it fourth job. I worked 25 years as a county Extension Adviser/Family Life Specialist for the University of Illinois until my position was eliminated. Then I substituted for a Psychology professor who had had a stroke for one semester. I then went to work for Catholic Charities as a Parent Educator/Abstinence Educator/Counselor for 8 years and again my position was eliminated due to funding. I now am a customer service representative at Office Max and on weekends I am an independent contractor for a company that works with state's attorney offices. I teach classes to first offenders who have been convicted of passing bad checks.

Good morning Georgie, I work at a Memory Care Facility as a Assistance Director since April and it keeps me very busy, I use to be on here everyday but now it i**** and miss, any way I love my job and so glad that I am able to work again, for the past 5 years I was on ssd due to my weight I was not able to work,
Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!
Hi Georgie.
I am a nurse working at a hospital in Des Plaines. I don't do actual patient care anymore. I am the Director of the Medical Staff Office working with administration, department heads and our physicians. I've been here 21 years - a survivor of many job cuts and takeovers. Started there in quality, then quality and medical staff - now just medical staff. I've done infection control, utilization management and some risk management in my lifetime as well.
Welcome aboard.
Lucy

Hi Lucy,
Wow, quite a nursing career. You people are the best, and I know hospitals just keep piling more on.
I've been reading about your poor knee problem. I had replacement of my right 2 years in January 2010. My left one will eventually need it, but hoping I can buy some more time with losing weight. I sympathize with you on the pain. My left one had really been hurting and the cortisone injections weren't holding anymore. Asked Dr. about the synvisic. Had that in March and so far so good. I had the 3 shot deal, but was getting discouraged because for about a month after done, my knee would just ache at night. Then one day...pain pretty much gone. Not gonna say I don't hurt ever, but it is so much better. Keeping my fingers crossed. HOpe you get some relief soon. geo
