Saturday Roll Call
I do not have anymore info on Randy. I cannot remember the whole story behind his doctor/surgery struggles but I was not surprised when I was told it was an open procedure. I am going to guess he had issues once the doctor got in and that was the reason it was so long. On a side note my RNY was open and it ended up being 4 hours due to adhesions. I think I will call Cheryl today and she what is going on. I wanted her to have rest yesterday and not bug her.
Well, what is going on in your world? I will touch back in later today.

Busy day today. Starting this morning I have to take one dog to the groomers, then run to the cleaners and other errands, come home and let the plumber in, then leave to take the other dog to the vet, then some more errands, pick the dog up at the groomers, and come home and clean until I have to go to Dekalb and meet a girl for dinner for my reenactment unit.
I hope everyone is doing good today.
Christine, I love Milwaukee, we go there every year for a reenactment and on Friday night we walk around and go for dinner. There is a really good restaurant that is like an old speak easy, that is kind of hidden in an alley. When you find it in order to get in you have to know what the password is. If you do not know it, you have to do something silly on camera, so everyone else in the restaurant can see you. It is fun, and if I could remember the password I would tell you, but I forgot.
Hope everyone stays warm today.

Today we are going out for more walking and take pictures, look for a church for tomorrow and shop up on Old World Third Street. We also want to go through the Pabst Mansion which is 1 1/2 mile walk away. We will walk to Butch's steakhouse tonight which is about 2/3 of a mile. Other resturant decisions are yet to be made - ie: a steakhouse around the corner from us called Bo's or sushi down the street also. DECISIONS, DECISIONS.

I am having a very relaxing morning. I have been looking forward to this all week.
I went yesterday for my 5th fill. I had 8.3 ccs and now I have 9.2 ccs. Well I just ate some eggs for breakfast and I do feel like I have very good restriction. I couldn't finish what was on plate. Can it be...can it be...after all of this time I finally have good restriction. Is it the sweet spot??? I don't know yet. But I really have a good feeling about this one. I'm afraid to be disappointed...so I will just hope for the best.
I hope Randy is recovering well. I am just wondering what are some of the reasons a surgeon would opt for a open procedure? I wonder why they had to do an open procedure on Randy. My prayers for a speedy recovery are with him. The others Deanna and Crystal seem to be doing wonderfully. Yeah!!!
Well have a nice Saturday.
As far as a doctor doing an open vs lap with a super large person the doctor needs to get in and out as fast as s/he can. For a large person being under anesthesia too long can be dangerous. My husband's surgeon opted for open RNY on him. Lap can sometimes take slightly longer due to setting up for the maneuvering of the instruments via a camera. There are trade offs - the doctor can see better via lap but it takes longer then if the person is opened up and he dives in and goes to work.

I was in Bloomington all day yesterday, and know I got a lot accomplished. Even with all the rain. I went to the Drs. with my DD, went to Sam's Club, Took a ring I had bought in Alaska to be resized,
helped same DD find an outfit to wear to a wedding, brought the DGD back to Streator, so her other Grandparents could pick her up for the weekend, went to Olive Garden for lunch (soup salad and breadsticks) and finally went to dinner with friends.
Today, I need to pick up the house and go to the drugstore. It is a nice day, but cool, so I will walk to the drug store for exercise.
I wish all our new bench warmers a speedy recovery, our lurkers a wish that they will join us openly, a big welcome to Georgie for comeing out of lurkdom and abig hello to all our members that finally check in after a long leave.
Hugs,
LISA
Good morning IL! Wow, you people get up early on the weekend! NOT me. Have a Dr's appt in a few. Saw the frost on my grass this am - bye bye tomatoes! Lisa, I love to go to Bloomington for the weekend to shop, but it's been awhile since I've been there. I have a 9 year old goddaughter and her grandma is my best friend. Chloe and her mom live near Champaign, and she comes up to visit her G&G and me on the weekends. She should be here sometime today. Cold....think comfort food! (while I can, LOL). Think I'll make some sloppy joes this afternoon for supper. Well, gotta go. Hope you all have a super day. Randy, haven't "met" you yet, but keeping you in my prayers. I know you have struggled long and hard to get to this point.

Had a wonderful experience at my Dr today....He's my PC and we had worked for 6 months to document for BCBSIL....no dice they didn't take it. Then the very next month, BC went to the 3 month requirement and I did it with my WL surgeon's group and got approved right off. When I told my PC today he hugged me! He was almost as excited as I am! Nice to have that kind of support from your Primary!
