Kane Center patients
I just got my Next Steps paperwork last week. I have made all my appointments in October, with the latest one on 10/22. So, hopefully I will have my surgery by the beginning of November.
My question is about the Alexian Brothers Advanced Weight Solutions. It is listed with all my "required" appts., but it is labeled "optional".
Has anyone done this? Is it worth it? Something I definitely have to do because it really helped you in your journey? Is it something that I would get with a psychologist?

The advanced weight solutions is optional, but they strongly suggest it. I did not attend.
I did attend the group session that had the $10 fee, that was not optional. This was very interesting and Dr. Crane from the Kane Center runs it.
Good luck to you, you are so close! :) As soon as you finish these they can get you a date as soon as 1-2 weeks after.

If the appointment with Alexian Brothers Advanced Weight Solutions is the three hour class that you attend in the first 4 weeks following surgery... it was quite valuable and I would highly recommend it.
I regularly attend the monthly support group at ABMC for RNY.. they are great. It's also great to meet others that have been through the same... I have several new friendships that will likely be life long friends.

I also went to the follow up class after surgery and it was a big help. I reccommend it highly! After surgery, I couldn't get enough information to help me through it. Good luck with all your planning and pre surgical testing. In the end, it was all worth it!!

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I am planning on going to the support group meetings and Dr. Crane's Psychology of Obesity sessions, but I think the Alexian Brothers Advanced Weight Solutions is different than those.
The description states: Introduction to the Weight Management Program. This multidisciplinary team specializes in behavioral change, modification of lifestyle and disease managment resulting from obesity. They are here to support the necessary behavioral changes needed for maximum success before and after surgery. It is highly recommended taht you enroll yourself in this program.
