new to forum and 20 days post op
ok so I thought I would introduce myself I am new to the Illinois forum and a recently had the RNY done. My surgery was on the 14th of September. I will be honest I am looking for any and all guideance and inspiration I can find with this journey I have begun. I have no regrets in having this surgery done but to be honest I did have a few WTF did I do to myself momments! That seems to have passed now that things are calming and my body is appearing to come out of "shock" mode. One regret I do have is not joining this forum much earlier (as I was encouraged to do). My name is Kelly btw. oh lastly, not sure how these groups and forums work so any info or direction in that regard is much appreciated!!! Have a wonderful day!
Good Morning Kelly,
Happy Monday to you.... I just wanted to say hello and tell you Welcome to the Illinois Forum. I unfortunately would not be much help to you as I am new to OH and the Illinois Forum.... I just thought to say hi and tell you.... Congrats on your surgery! I'm only about 9 weeks out from surgery myself (9 weeks tomorrow) so I understand about being the newbie...
Only advice I have right now is to stay with OH for sure. I don't know anyone really but I read the forum discussions every day and it helps. People ask questions and trust me... someone will respond to your questions and concerns. People seem to be very nice and help others when they can. Well... you have a terrific day!!
Take Care and God Bless!!

If I haven't welcomed you Julie, I want to say welcome. I hope you are planning to come to the get together at Paul's. Don't be shy. I missed the first one because I was too afraid to go because I did not know anyone. My first one was at Paul's last year and I had a blast. Hope to see you there!

Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!
Welcome to the Illinois board.
I too have had a couple WTF moments. Only mine are different. I had Realize Band surgery and every time I get frustrated with the slow weight loss I keep second guessing my decsion, I will say to myself "why didn't I have RNY". So I guess everyone has momnets... nothing new.

Hi, Kelly. I grew up in Hickoy Hills and lived in Oak Lawn when I was first married.
I had the DS, so my recovery and post-op lifestyle is different than yours, but I can definitely understand the WTF stuff! At your current stage, I was still doing some serious daily napping. I was afraid I would be tired forever! But I wasn't and now it feels like I have a jet pack strapped to my back--I have so much energy now. Hang in there!
If you aren't already, I'd try to get involved in a real-life support group, in addition to OH.

HW: 344 lbs CW: 150 lbs
Type 2 diabetes and sleep apnea GONE!
Welcome Kelly! Since I had band surgery my needs are a bit different than yours, so I can't tell you from experience about your journey. Others on here would be more helpful than I. You will get your questions answered here. Keep posting and join us on the daily roll call where you will get to know the other helpful people on OH. Continued success with your weight loss journey!
Welcome Kelly!
So glad to have you join us!
The only advise I have about the forum itself is to make sure you check the "Notify me when someone replies to my post" box before submitting. That way, you will know that you have an answer.
Besides that, join us in the daily roll call to share what is going on in your world so we can get to know you. Ask specific questions in separate posts, they will get answered easier that way.
We have get togethers a few times a year and the next one is at Paul's on October 17. Hopefully you can make it. It is great to meet in person and he and his wife are wonderful hosts.
Again, welcome!
