One week
I finally posted my first blog on my profile.
One more week to surgery and another week of liquid diet while I have the capacity to eat a lot more.
I really wish Vitello's other folks who posted on here were around.
Daves-an-RN, Cheroity and a guy who only posted here once that Vitello had done his surgery at the VA.

Hooray Randy! I'm very excited for you! Just in the short time I've been a part of the "Illinois bunch" it has been obvious how much hard work you have done to get this surgery. You and I will be "surgery buddies" as I'm coming along about a week after you.
.
I agree with you about the protein shakes, I'm not minding mine at all. I don't start my official pre-op diet until Sunday, but my nut has me doing 1 shake per day right now.
All the best to you,

Yea for you Randy soon you will be on the loser bench,
Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!
Hi Randy,
Though I am not one of Dr. Vitello's patients I did have my VSG at UIC 09/17/09 and everything went off without a hitch.
My surgery was delayed for about an hour due to the surgery right before mine going over which was ok with me. The only thing I remember is being wheeled into the OR and them having me move over to the operating table. At that point they had put the happy juice in my IV and I was out for the count. I have no memory of the recovery room.
What I do remember is them taking me to my room and asking me if I could my over to my bed. I asked them if they were serious. Then they called for more people to help them move me. It was 7:30 pm when I got to my room. My roommate had company and they were eating Churches Chicken. I thought that was a cruel joke because I hadn't eaten anything since the day before but I wasn't even hungry at that point.
I was in the hospital for two nights and I must say all of my nurses were very nice. They were very helpful and they always came when I called. I only had to have pain meds given twice. The only thing I did not like was when they came to administer the heperin shots every 8 hours. Those thing stung like hell for a good 3-4 minutes and they left really big bruises.
The only problem I had was they did not have towels in the hospital. They have these thick paper towel things for you to use. But they are nothing like towels. So make sure you take your own towels.
I hope this helps.
