Saturday Roll Call
Good morning Lisa and the rest of Illinois!
I am just stopping by while I take my morning vitamins.
We are talking about getting the attic cleaned out today of all the rubbish that the roofers left up there. I have not been up there to look at it, but Todd and David tell me that it is filthy! We will probably burn all the shingles and trash.
Randy, hang in there, the ladies are right. It is the dotor's job to make sure that you understand the possibilities. All surgeries have possible complications.
I am going to take a trip in to Wally world to pick up some essentials and then make the R.OD. from yesterday. All this soup talk has me inspired to do that also. I have several beef soup bones in the freezer to be used up.
Good luck to "msrare1" whose surgery is Monday. Lisa gave great advise as to what to take to the hospital. My only advise is to walk as soon and as much as possible, along with the sipping and resting. Please keep us updated.
Everyone have a spectacular day!

Hello all, I'm returning here after a VERY eventful and busy few years.
I wound up getting married, having a surprise baby, and going through divorce ( due to abuse) and still moving on.
I was originally 321 lbs when I had my surgery and got down to 147 ( at 5'2") and NOW I'm 175 ish depending with water weight and such.
I heard there is a new procedure out for revision that they tighten things and do a rose type thing to shrink the pouch some again. I've stayed at this weight range for 2 years so I'm NOT gaining or anything but I'd like to get down more because after my surgery I stopped having diabetic issues that seem to be flaring up again.
If anyone hears about this or a doctor that will take medicaid even for follow up ( Dr. Maillefer in Dekalb stopped taking me because he stopped medicaid or out of county) and no one in this area seems to know anything about it. My nutrition and bloodwork levels may be part of my problem.
Anyhow anyone here from 2004/2005 still????
BLessings All,
Katie

Glad you moved on from the abusive relationship. That takes a lot of courage.
I'm sorry to say, but the Rose and Stomaphyx have gotten some not-so-great reviews from people on the Revisions and RNY boards. You should ask over there if you have not yet done so. I'm sure people there can help you out with their experiences.
Have you had labs drawn recently? Any PCP who takes Medicaid can order them if you are concerned. At a minimum, you can take the results (online) to Vitalady (Michelle, of www.vitalady.com she is a distal RNYer and posts on the main and RNY forums a lot) and she might be able to help you sort out a vitamin regimen for you, based on your labs, if you can't swing an official doctor at this point, financially. Staying deficient is not a good path and anything is better than nothing.
Best of luck to you!

I had the kick-butt duodenal switch (DS)!
HW: 344 lbs CW: 150 lbs
Type 2 diabetes and sleep apnea GONE!
Unfortunately because I have medicaid it's hard to find a GOOD caretaker. BUT, I do have a GREAT one other than the fact that she's totally anti-bariatric surgery, so she won't even order the full panel I need:(
And for the vitamin routine unless the vita lady would be willing to help me know what I need and enable me to get them somewhere cheaper, I probably couldn't afford them:(

I know Medicaid is different for each state, but I had my surgery in Ohio with Medicaid and the surgeon wrote a prescription for pre-natal vitamins and they were covered by Medicaid, prior to surgery I was anemic and on iron, that I also via prescription. I still get both via prescription and my insurance covers the pre-natal, and while they don't cover the iron, it's still a reasonable price. I know all surgeons recommend different types of vitamins, but I just wanted to throw that information out there, that perhaps if you get a prescription for your vitamins Medicaid will cover them.
I have Lipedema and Lymphedema. I also have a passion for Obesity and Health Insurance Advocacy.

Good morning everybody!
I am feeling good today. This morning I started my day off with a shake that was soo yummy! fat free yogurt, 1 scoop vanilla powder, 1/4 cup cooked oatmeal, 1 banana, water to thin it and some cinnamon and nutmeg. Drank it down within 20 minutes no problem =D
I have plans to clean the house.. next weekend is my last chance to really clean before surgery so I figure if I get half done now and half done next weekend then that will be best.
I hope you all have a great weekend!

Happy Saturday Everyone!
Not much going on in my corner. I slept in this morning and had some snuggle time with my cats. Then I did a quick trip to the hospital to do my labs for my 18 month appointment. Boy, it is hard to believe that it has been 18 months.
Work has been kind of crazy. It was announced Friday morning that we were changing cubes again and Friday afternoon I was told that I am moving Monday morning. We just move to new cubes 3 months ago. The lesson is never get comfortable in your cube. This will be my 5th cube and 4th superviser in 3 years. Change is the name of the game in our business.
No special plans for the rest of today. Tomorrow is out pet shelter's fund raiser in the park. It is their 10th anniversary. I will go and help out for awhile.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
