I made several gallons of really great veggie soup yesterday. I would be willing to give you all you want if you want to come here in your "cleaning lady" mode! Okay, I'm sorry, but you can't blame me for trying! The soup did come out yummy and I have enough in the freezer to last a long time. I'm still fighting my cold, but I sense that it is moving on. Today will be a day of house work and possibly a trip to the hardware store to get a chainsaw. The bushes on the side of the house are coming down! We seem to have lots of wild trees mixed in them and the best way is to get rid of them and plant new ones next year. It's a big job, but needs to be done. I also need to close the pool. So not much excitement, but lots of action! Have fun everybody!

Hi Paul, We have our pool closed already, actually, we took it down now instead of in the spring. It was way to old and needed to be replaced. We did buy the new one, but it won't go up until next spring. (No pool closing or opening). We have bushes to trim too. I think they have grown a foot in about 5 weeks!
Have A great day.

Fog here seems to be pretty high already with plenty of visability at ground level.
Dr. V had Sherry come with me yesterday. His listing of complications and negative possibilities and the way he delivered them it seemed and he said as much was to try and disuade us/scare us. This is the oddest situation I have ever been in. He had Sherry crying, he had me teared up, his resident was crying. Death does not hold any fear for me. One because of my faith but also because of the living death I have now. More scary is a list of long term negative possibilities. I signed the consent though and had all of my test done. So now I am on a liquid diet and the countdown has really begun. I really need support from folks who were 400 plus pounds and had open gastric bypass. I wi9ll post this to the bypass forum as well.

Randy,
I was 413 when I started my liquid diet for surgery. I lost 40 pounds in 2 weeks on the liquid diet. .
I was never tempted to cheat. I just kept my surgery in focus. Yes, I knew the risks but I too felt like I was not living at my weight. I also had the high risk of blood clots because I have a history of them. I put my faith in the Lord and took it from there. In fact I was as excited as a kid at Christmas by the time my surgery day arrived. I had been through so much effort to get approval. I had made peace with my decision and whatever would happen. Good luck to you and if you need to talk, let me know.

Good Morning,
My advice would be to take 1/2 of what you think you need. If you have a lapto*****tebook, take it. Take 1 book. if you don't like the taste of water, take Crystal Lite. House slippers, a nice robe, Something loose to come home in. Your personal stuff. I am sure there is more, but you will be in a hospital. You don't need your meds, a ton of clothes, or a ton of stuff. They will give you a bear or pillow and whater you need. Take a list of meds you take.
Good Luck,
LISA

Hi
Good luck with your surgery! I was as excited as a kid at Christmas for mine! One thing I highly suggest are ear plugs. Hospitals are VERY noisy places. Also I would suggest some light reading, a nail file, pen and paper to jot down doctor instructions, slippers that slip on, a sports bra (I did not want to wear a regular bra for a long time), If you are on a cpap machine, take that too. I also took a crossword puzzle book for when I could not sleep. My surgeon allowed chewing gum which I took and was very grateful as your mouth is so dry that first day and you are not allowed anything to drink. I also took one of my wls books. I had not read it yet so it gave me time to read it when the subject was most pertinent. Also take a pillow for the ride home!

I have been up since 6ish and have been enjoying my
. I took yesterday off and played hooky. It was one of the best things I could have done. I needed to get away from the one wench I work with.
Randy: well, what the doctor did is normal. He has to tell you all of the complications. It is serious surgery on a SMO or MO patient and they cannot sugar coat the situation. My doctor and Dave's did the same thing. They need to make sure that you are fully aware of the surgery.
Paul: I always have the fixin's for soup in the house. I do have a great mix that I can throw together and have a pot done in 30 minutes or so. It was the Christmas jar mix I gave away last year. I can share the recipe with anyone that is interested.
No pool for this girl and guy. We do not want to own the elephant - just ride it once in a while - do not want the extra work or expense of a pool that is. I can go to the village pool many times for far cheaper than owning one; that is just us.
Welcome msrare1.
Off to get some things done in the house myself. I did not get as much done with being home yesterday but I did get all of my ironing done and it just needs to be put away and some other laundry put away also.
