Friday Roll Call
Good morning Paul and Illinois!
Happy Friday everyone!
Paul, hope your feeling better soon. I'm hoping to be able to attend the get together on the 17th. We had a good time the last time we were there.
Val and Nancy-"Happy Birthday"
Dawn, hope you issues are soon resolved completely.
Lucy, glad to see you are now in less pain.
Omar, glad your appeal was good news.
Newbies, "Welcome"
Not much going on around here...MIL's still here for a few more days.
We haven't done too much this visit.
If I missed anyone, it was not done on purpose...I suffer from CRS...
Oh, well....Have a Great Day Everyone!

Good morning everyone I am new to this. My surgery is October 13 and I will begin my 2 week prep for surgery on tuesday. I thought I would ask everyone if they had some words of wisdom they could give me as my surgery date gets closer. I am so excited that it is almost here.
I hope everyone that hasn't been feeling well feel better soon.
Have a Wonderful Day, and thanks for the welcome.

Rosie
Welcome Rosie! I will start sanding and refinishing a new spot on the "looser's bench" just for you! The two biggest pieces of advice I can share with you are these. First, it is absolutely critical that you drink drink drink! Only you will need to do this by taking very small sips all day long. The second is that you want to concentrate on getting your protein in. Your doctor will tell you how much to take on a daily basis, and it will seem like a lot, but you need that protein to heal. As far as protein shakes go, try to get a powder that is 24 grams of protein to 3 grams of carbs. They're easy to find, and you don't want all the nasty carbs that other powders have in them. The last part of my advice is to keep coming to the board! This is a place of support and understanding. No matter how loving and understanding your friends and family may be, they will not always understand the process you are going through. The folks on this board will. Remember that your surgery is just a tool toward a much larger life change. It is as much a behavioral change as it is a physical change. We have all gone through, or are going through that change in our lives and we understand the doubts, pains, joys, thrills, fears, etc... It will be the most phenomenal trip you will ever experience, but also one of the scariest. But in the end, you will feel reborn and totally in control of your life. This is a place to recharge your batteries on a daily basis. Or just a place to hang out. In any case, I look forward to seeing you as you go through your WLS experience!
