Good Morning Illinois!

I TOTALLY struggled this morning trying to get Vit. down. I have not had surgery yet, but starting  Vit. OMG.....I gaged and gaged.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for getting Vits. down.

Otherwise, I am praying for good news with BCBSIL, on the DS deal.

Have a good day!

When I first had my surgery, I went to the Vitamin Shoppe and got their liquid vitamins and they were great!  A cap full a day was all I took, and the bottle lasted a long time.  The price was good as well.  The big thing is to concentrate on getting all your protein in.  Try to stay with a protein mix that is 24 grams of protein to 3 or 4 grams of carbs.  They are easy enough to find and are much better than the protein powders that have a high carb content.  I've been happy with the Vitamin Shoppe's Protech 24 or with Dymitize.  Everybody seems to have their own likes and dislikes, but the numbers are what you want to pay attention to.  A friend of mine, who has lost over 200 pounds, said it best.  He said they all taste awful, but some are less awful than others!  (Of course he used a different word, but this is a family board!).

The other way to go is children's chewables, but unfortunately, they tend to be filled with sugars.

Good luck!

The Kane center gave me samples, and info on vitamin products from Bariatric Advantage. They are chewable vitamins for bariatric patients. I have been using those for the past 3 weeks and they are really nice.

I take a multi (berry flavored) in the morning and a calcium chew, a sublingual b12 (also another berry flavor) at lunch and a calcium chew, and an iron (passion fruit) at night with my last calcium chew.

They taste good and are not that expensive.

Never, never, never take calcium and iron together.  They inhibit the absorption of each other.
Iron plays well with Vitamin C (and copper) and it is best to take them alone, 2 hours before (or after) any other vitamins and separate from coffee or dairy.

Tell someone that you love them!

So does BA have all the Vit. as chewables that DS need?

I had trbl with vits pre and PO. I always make sure that I take mine with a little bit of food in my tummy. If I do not have food to eat right at that time (like when I get to work) I have a protein drink that I swallow them with. Not every day is like that but many days are like that where I need something in the tummy to go with the vits.
