38 days and counting for approval

Yep, it has been 38 days since my paperwork was sent to my insurance.  I was told the other day, by the insurance comp., that it could be 35-40 days.  I'm getting so discouraged.  At this point, I want an answer, yes or no. 

Have you heard of an approval taking this long?  I haven't been on here long enough to hear about many insurance stories.

I am NO insurance expert, but this sounds like borderline crap to me.

I think you have some legal protection here. For example, they HAVE to respond by a certain time frame or else. Usually, I have heard 31-45 days.  Can you ask your HR department what their contract is with their insurer for timing on approvals?

Yes, I have heard of an approval taking this long, but you should hear something soon.  Who is your insurance company?  Call them and your HR dept and stay on them.

I hate when they yank your chain like this.

It just depends on the insurance company and what exactly they are asking for as far as specs for your surgery. If the surgeon's office is helping you out, I would call them every week to check. Good luck and hope you get your approval soon!
