As of today it's 2 years since surgery.....I wanted to write, though it's been FOREVER & due to my CRAZY schedule I'm not good at responding, so to all that read this may it enlighten or even encourage you.
Before surgery I weighed in @ over 350lbs. I was pre-diabetic, had hypertension & really wasn't living life...or the life I deserve for my family, friends or myself!!! I was so miserable & didn't even realize it! People don't look you in the eye when your'e that BIG. They treat you as if you aren't there. And shopping is a nightmare! As of Sept 18,07 that began to sloooowly change. After surgery I was sure it wasn't going to work...why would it nothing else EVER did. I was depressed for about 6 months. Not only was wt. lose slooow but I also was grieving the old me.After I received  about 3-4 adjustment in my 10cc AP band the wt. lose was becoming noticable. I'd a few fills here& there, Even was wrongfully completely unfilled & gained  about 60lbs back.I just tuck to it. Proper fills are vital!
Support helps! Never lose track of your goal!
On tue I went in to get unfilled....I was sooo scared. Obesity will forever be trying to get me! Forever I will fight it! You see, I love to eat, I love to cook & bake. Before I'd eat anything whenever I wanted.Don't even think I realized all I consumed daily. So now at 135lbs I knew I didn't want or need to lose any more wt. At my appt the Dr thought my band had slipped. Which his office informed me that's common once alot of wt. had been lost. I was scheled to see my surgeon today but due to severe abdominal pain & high fever I made the 1.5 hour drive in to Chicago to be seen at UIC. That's where my surgeon is from & the hospital out here recommend that's where I go.  I thought for such something was seriously wrong with Richard [my band] Come to find out my Rich is perfectly fine though he's completely empty. I am just impacted. Yes, full of **** But not about lap-band & wt lose!
With losing so much wt. I'm ALIVE! I'm more active than ever. I feel as if I'm a better mother, partner, friend & over all person. I'm out of my fat suit. People look at me...some really look at me  Even hold doors open for me.Shopping is tooo much fun. Of course I was a 26 pant/ 28-30 blouse & now I'm size small 4/6. People tell me I inspire them. I know my family is proud! I'm no longer the fat Mom. My surgeon tried to hire me because I've done so well. I just can't tell you ALL the good lap-band has done for me!  As for ALL my health issues...they are GONE!I'm so thankful I made the choice I did!
My BFF even has the band now & 2 other friends are working on getting their aprovals from ins. I hope by letting you know my success it will help!!! I sincerely pray that everyone will be able to have similar success!!!! Best wishes & stay on track!! You can do it & you deserve it!!! I'll post pics soon!

I don't know you but I feel you!
I have tears in my eyes  reading your post because it is so close to home.  I am so much happier and healther because of the decision I made with WLS .  I am able to play with my kids like I should be able to.  That was my main motivater, and to be able to set better examples for my girls so that they never have to live overweight like me!

Congrats and keep up the work!  Glad Richard has not slipped!
By the way are you Crystal(from the boards) friend that she mentioned was having issues with the band the other day?

Congrats to you  and thank you for sharing your story with all of us. You have done a great job, and looking and feeling so much better is the best thing of all,
take care and enjoy your new life,

Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!
