30 years ago!

Today, exactly 30 years ago probably right now I was getting ready to start what I did not know at that time would be my career in law enforcement. There have been great times and then there have been times when you work in a male dominated industry (I will refrain from calling it the "M C P" industry, fill in the blanks for the letters) that you feel like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders and cannot wait until you leave the building. I have cried many times but those days are over shadowed with the days that to lighten the tension of our work we have had side splitting laughter while telling "war stories". Or there are the days where we sit and reminisce about the "good ole days" and yes we gossip about prior employees that were thorns in our sides back then. I will give myself  a  because the ones that should where I work will keep doing the same ole, same ole and not recognize the opportunity to pat a fellow employee on the back to give them a boost. . . .  I have been dropping hints at work for the last several weeks that I want my 30 year service bar for my uniform, they better have ordered it.  We will see what happens when the Chief's secretary gets in later. . . . .

Congratulations on your 30 years of service. I'm sure that you went through so many trying times in a male-oriented profession. You've triumphed many hurdles in your life.  

Hope you get your 30 year service bar award soon! We'll want to see it too.

Where does the time go? I am sure you never throught that you would still be there this many years. They should get you your 30 year bar. They should give you a party or a luncheon too. You deserve it!

May I never get to know you in a professional capacity.

Randy, the only ones here that had to not want to be around me at times were some the officers. I always have and still do enjoy helping the general public - even for the most part the scum bags. I tell you it is a good thing that I do not carry a gun! Some of them (officers) have treated me so poorly over the years  . . . . . . .  they are still lucky they are walking especially one that I know of that is still in law enforcement and is a chief here in the NW 'burbs, he is a total jerk.
