Back from the Doc

Hi everyone.

I had my ortho doc appointment this morning. He finally gave me the synthetic synovial fluid injection. OMG, it was so painful I screamed .

I have to get one for the next 2 weeks - every Wednesday. Then we'll see about the pain relief. If this doesn't work, then we are talking knee replacement.

Now more than ever, do I need to lose some weight. It's so hard with being in pain. I'm going to have to get focused.

Thank goodness my doc friend gave me enough pain medication.

Still not sleeping much at night and much pain with driving!

A very tearful Lucy

BIG HUGS to you Lucy.

I am so sorry to hear what you are going through.  Batten down the hatches and get focused on what needs to be done.  You CAN do it.  You did it before, you can do it again.  Get back in that newly post-op frame of mind.

I hope this helps.......

Tell someone that you love them!

Hi Dawn.

Thanks for this message. Yesterday was probably one of the worst days in my life.

I cried walking out of the doc's office, in the parking lot and getting into the car. I had to sit there for a couple of minutes to compose myself.

When I got back to the office, I cried some more. One of the docs stopped in to say hello and asked what was wrong. She offered to write me a pain med prescription and was very supportive. She even offered to drive me to work a couple of days during the week. I was so touched by her generosity.

I got a little sleep last night as I was so exhausted. I think I was in bed for about 3 hours.

I am really trying to think positive. I don't want to have a knee replacement right now. I know it's definitely in the future, but would like to be in better shape for the procedure. Now, if this happened to me two years ago, I would have been a perfect candidate for the procedure.

Thanks again and hugs,
Lucy

Hi Lucy,
Sorry to hear you are still in pain.  I can empathize with what you are going through, I hurt my knee recently and they do not know what is wrong with it.  There is a litte pocket of fluid and they cant figure out why.

I will keep you in my prayers.

Good luck

OUCHIE !!!!! So glad that you have been proactive in your care. The light is hopefully at the end of the tunnel as to pain relief. Sorry that it might end in surgery but that is also a light at the end . . . .

Hi Christine!

That was the most painful shot I ever got. I think it was so bad because the pain was so intense to start with. I'm hoping that the 2nd shot won't be so bad.

I was able to get 3 hours of sleep in bed last night. I'm hoping that I will get even a bit of improvement in the severity of the pain.

Driving even a short distance is excruiating as it is my right knee and driving foot.

Congrats again on your 30th year anniversary on the job!

Hugs and Love,
Lucy

Dear, Dear, Lucy. I can't say that I know what you are going through, but I wish you didn't have to be in so much pain. I have my fingers crossed that the shots will help (my toes too).

Hugs, and if you want to talk, I am here for you.

Hi Lisa.

Thanks for this message. I'd love to talk with you. I left you a message as I don't have your number. I would need to call you while I'm at work, cause I don't have long distance at home.

I was able to get at least 3 hours of sleep in bed last night.

The shot was the worst I ever had. But, I was in such severe pain already - that just fueled and escalated the pain.

Hugs,
Lucy

 Hi Lucy

Yes, those shots HURT!  But I get so much relief from them I actually beg my ortho doctor for them.

I do hope you find the relief you are looking for.  But if not, I have to say, the knee replacement is wonderful!  I am sorry that I waited so long.  I can't wait to get the other knee done.  It is so worth it.

Hang in there!
