BMI (Joliet)-Has anyone gone through the pre-surgery weight loss program
My doctor is at BMI in Joliet. The pre-opp procedure goes pretty much like this (of course this will very depending on your insurance)
-Go to the seminar
-informational session about BMI and insurance and your diet. (they leave the diet up to you so you can go to Weigh****chers or whatever) thet just give you guidlines.
-you will check in monthly for a weigh in. (I had to go in for 6 months)
-in the mean time you go for all of your testing. cardiolist, pulmonolgist, psychiatrist (and they give you a list of doctors in the area that they work with)
-when you're ready to submit your paper work into the insurance they do that all for you.
-as soon as you get your approval you get your surgery date- usually 2-3 weeks from your approved
-you will go to your class where they teach you about your 2 week pre-opp diet and your post opp diet. you leave there that day with a crap load of info and it's all on a CD ROM, you get a protein counter book, excersise bands, pedometer, and I can't remember what else.
-after your surgery you come in for a check up 1-2 days after surgery.
-if you get a band you will be going in for fills every 6
- also will be going for 3 more classes (to re-enforce everything that is on the CD ROM)
-there will blood tests you need to go in for and check ups too.
They have a very good program. I think you will be very happy with them. If you have anyother questions please ask.
