question about further surgery
I am seeing myt surgeon tomorrow to discuss surgery to attach my small bowel at a different location. Since having an open RNY on May 4 I've been sick - unable to work and totally without energy. I've been hospitalized three times for panic potassium levels, had upper and lower GIs, endoscopy and a feeding tube put in. Now they tell me my small bowl is too short to absorb nutriants and that's why I feel so bad. He wants to open up the original incision and attach my stomach at a different point. says recovery time is four to six weeks - but that's what he said about the RNY. My question of course is does anyone know anything about this problem? Mainly I want to make sure that this will fix the problem. I have to get my life back. The good news is I've lost 120 pounds. The bad news is I can't walk more than 20 feet without needing to rest. Reversing the RNY is not an option because I had severe bleeding ulcers and they removed a large portion of my stomach.
Thanks for any feedback.

Sharon,
I have had similar issues, though not nearly as extreme. If you'd like to see my journey please check out my blog. I truly wish I could have my RNY reversed (no medical reason why I can't unlike you, surgeon just wont!)
You are in my thoughts and I hope everything gets better....for both of us.
