I have BCBS PPO and once all requirements were met, it only took a week for approval.
That is the trick! You should contact BCBS with your policy number and ask them WHAT EXACTLY their requirements are for your type of surgery on YOUR policy (they can all be different). Then, use that as a checklist and give them everything they want with the first submission and it should be relatively quick and easy.
They used to require a 1 year supervised diet attempt and were very strict about what that meant. They changed to 6 months when I was in my 9th and I heard that they now only require 3 months.

Yeappers! I agree with Dawn.
I was approved 2 weeks ago. It only took 3 days for them to approve. I didnt have any problems, because I had everything they required of me. I actually had about 7 months of medically supervised diet. Dawn is right....BCBSIL PPO, only required at 3 month supervised diet.

I don't have Dr Joyce but I have Dr Lahmann, his partner. BMI is great. They are very focused on our success and have a very structured before and after care program. I think you will be pleased. So many places don't have as good of a program.
Also, I have BCBS PPO and my paperwork was submitted on Friday and by Monday I was approved. It only took one business day!!! Goodluck

I have Dr. Joyce and BCBS PPO for insurance. Once my paperwork was sent in I had my approval letter within the week. I actually faxed mine to BMI because I wasn't sure if it was the approval. Cherrish called me back within 5 minutes telling me it was indeed my approval. We set the date right then on the phone. As Crystal already said, BMI has a great aftercare program. Good luck to you....maybe we will meet at a support group meeting in the future.
